I would then need to forget the actual layout of the track work completely and just focus on the diagram. That may be easier once all the LED's are in place as then I can see the route settings easily, rather than trying to make sense of the ECoS plan. I hope that makes sense.... It may well be the finished panel size is dictated by the track thickness, hence the approximate dimensions. I shall build a mock up first with printed A4 sheets to see if all the associated electronic will fit in the base and then adjust the finished panel size up or down once I can see it all fits easily. The narrower flangeways made it look much finer than any other 00 pointwork. At that time they were using only "scale 00" wheels -- mostly white-metal kits with Romford wheels and axles. The running of such wheels on "EM minus 2" pointwork proved to be a big improvement on the alternative BRMSB standard (00-BF) -- not surprising when you do the arithmetic. There was no thought at that time of using "EM minus 2" for RTR stock. RTR was much too coarse at the time, nearly all serious 00 modellers would re-wheel it with Romford if they used any RTR at all. When I was developing Templot I remembered "EM minus 2", so I included it in the gauge list, and gave it the name 00-SF (" 00 special fine"). A few years ...

I then decided to commit fingers to keyboard and chose 00-BF because, at the time, I was a little concerned that the radius of some of the curves may be a shade too tight for 00-SF (and, anyway, this was the fiddle yard). Once the fiddle yard was sortd my attention turned to the scenic part of the layout where the curves are generally far more generous. However, I left the gauge at 00-BF. With the layout plan compete I thought I'd do the right thing and change everything to 00-SF, none of the curves ended up tighter than third radius. I group selected all templates and changed the gauge of all the templates (or so I thought- although I did wonder why one template became misplaced). This may be old hat to some, but it might be worth looking at your printer driver settings to see if you can set a custom paper size. For instance, my new Canon MP499 (an A4 printer) can go up to 420x676mm, but not both dimensions at the same time! In practise, this means I can set a paper size of 210mm x 594mm. When I found that Lazarus wouldn't accept Parent:=pad_form; in the OnCreate event of a child form, I changed it to Windows.SetParent(Handle,pad_form.Handle); Bad move. That's why it is grabbing the focus. After a bit of delving in Delphi I have discovered that Parent:= doesn't do that, it calls the InsertControl method on the parent. So what we need instead of SetParent is pad_form.InsertControl(the_child_form); The end result is that no clicking or dragging on the child takes focus away from the parent, and all parent keyboard shortcuts work fine. I said half a bingo, because it doesn't integrate the keyboard accelerator keys. To some extent that may be a good thing, in that we can have multiple child forms showing and not worry about accelerator conflicts. The actual functionality can be achieved by capturing keypresses on the parent, with a lot ...
