... cope easily with it, rather than working in the rather limited range of programming instructions you get in microprocessors. My preference would be to look for a system which allowed you to program in a PC or Mac and have a suitable interface between the computer and the track elements. You might also find that you require a more sophisticated object oriented language rather than Basic to let you program the job more easily. And I would suggest that a small footprint PC with a flat screen monitor might be a bit smaller than your multiple biscuit tins. It includes a main station with a shunting yard, both totaling 42 turnouts and approx. 102 routes. I would like to set the desired route by entrance – exit route switching, in other words by pressing two buttons on a control panel. The selected route should be flashing until ...

I wonder what everyone (especially Martin) thinks about the idea given all the above? ... containing 100 .box files of average contents took: full generator settings -- 23 seconds to display the full list of 100 screenshots skeleton generator settings -- 12 seconds to display the full list of 100 screenshots In my testing I haven't found the delay a problem -- much faster than manually reloading each file trying to find the one you want. Obviously if you have 500 files in a folder, and every file contains hundreds of templates, you will have time to make a nice cup of tea and open a packet of biscuits while you are waiting. Also, each screenshot requires 900KB of RAM for the bitmap, so a list of 500 screenshots will need 450MB of available RAM on the system. Which may slow things down a bit on older systems. It would be worth taking a few minutes to split up the files into smaller sub-folders to make the task easier. Presumably the traditional option of using the Windows GetFile dialogue will remain for people who know what is in the files they created? Yes, there is no change to ...

... . Double slips on a curve I discovered are for the experienced or foolhardy. As I'd not built one before you can see which category I came into. However one of the great things about Missenden is the plentiful supply of expertise on which to call. So my thanks go to Tim Peacock and Tony Gee without whose collective advice I'd still be there wondering why everything fell off and to my other chums in Studio 1, John G, Charley, Nigel, Chris, Andy and last but least John W who donated his biscuit ration to me....kept me going. And whilst I'm listing the great and good I'll indulge in a spot of name dropping in the person of Barry Norman who thought baseboard no 5( that I also took with me) looked pretty good. If it's good enough for Barry, it's good enough for me! (Edit) In short the collective power of being in the presence of all this knowledge and encouragement, both practically and psychologically, got me through. I dont know about you, but I need ...

... yards, I would just print the Templot plan with the two pieces of plain track crossing each other. The time to worry about check rails, wing rails etc is when you're building the track. Some people get their knickers in a twist about getting the Templot plan just right. It's only an aid to tracklaying, and there's no point in spending time with Templot when you could be spending the time laying real track. More heresy! (don't tell Martin I said that!) Look forward to meeting at the next Biscuit Group. Allan F posted: 19 Aug 2020 07:49 from: ScottW With the NBR terminating at Bonnybridge Central and the CR using it as a through station to Kilsyth it should make a small branchline a little more interesting to operate. I'm not sure what extra value a link between the two fiddle yard turntables would bring but I think you are right in saying that one shouldn't be too difficult include. I've currently modified the crossing lines into the fiddle yard and made them into two pieces of plain track. With ...
