If you didn't see any strange servo behavior there's a good chance you won't have any problems. You might make the test conditions a bit more difficult if you can simulate intermittent connection between the wheels and rails. That tends to generate some pretty impressive bursts of interference. ... Many thanks for your input on this problem, it is very reassuring to know it's not my computer, and as I stated in my posting message, I did not think it was a fault with Templot. I am most grateful for your reply and now feel relieved about the dilemma. All the best, Brian. posted: 3 Jul 2014 14:52 from: Martin Wynne Sorry about the downtime last night. It was caused by server congestion -- another user on the same shared hosting was obviously having a sudden burst of activity. When that happens the database engine locks out, and needs Jim to reset it. If you get similar mySql errors in future, please just try again later. We are due to move to a new server soon, which should cure the problem. The hosting is with Jim Hale in Ohio. Jim's day job is engineering/ CNC programming. In the evenings he runs a web hosting business as Data 1 Systems. He's not a reseller like most, he's a hands-on techie with over 20 ...

... Feb 2014 19:21 from: Brian Nicholls Hi Trevor, Probably a silly question, but did you wait a while for it to do anything before closing the viewer down? The reason I ask this is because when I first opened the viewer, it came up with the a basic form type screen, and having waited for a little while, began to think Martin had just sent this screen for the test (although, the size of the download file, suggested otherwise). Then after a while, it suddenly burst into life, and the companion data came in OK. This is why I made the comment about it in my message just above yours. Just thought I would ask. All the best. ... rather than sloping towards the web. Rob Many thanks Rob. It's a tricky business getting accurate measurements from the rails. I'll center the jaw dimensions around the average and try to provide plus and minus jaw versions in the test panel. Cheers, Andy posted: 21 May 2018 07:33 from: Stephen Freeman I can't measure the web thickness with the micrometer, the other measurements are in accord with Robs. Plus I'd really have to read up and remind myself how to use it. I did buy it in a burst of enthusiasm around 1986 at a Model Engineer show, when it was held at Wembley Exhibition Centre, I haven't had occasion to use it until now. it is a Tesa Isomaster. One point, which may have some bearing is that of an historical one. Scaleway aka SMP was taken over by Marcway. The Scaleway piece of track that I have pre-dates the take-over. Question is, is the SMP rail the same as that sold by Marcway both previously and present? The SMP Phosphor Bronze rail ...

Hi Paul, I received all 6, and all within a few seconds of the date-stamp here on the forum. Looking at the email headers, I can't see anything abnormal. Bear in mind that we share a server with Larry Hancock's electric fan collectors: http://afcaforum.com/ I know Jim has some software in place to limit the burst speed of emails sent from the server, so that the server doesn't get marked as an untrusted spam source by some of the networks. That means that if there is a simultaneous post on the AFCA forum (which has many thousands of members), our combined emails may be spread out over a few minutes. But I suspect the problem is a failure on whichever transatlantic network is used by your ISP. No doubt they will get it fixed, and any missing emails will appear in a day or two. Did ...

Scanners like the V550 have much more resolution than most applications require. posted: 26 Dec 2019 11:07 from: John Shelley My thanks to Martin and Nigel for what they have added to this thread. Before I go any further I must say that this morning by mistake I plugged in my Epson 1670 instead of the external hard disk that I use for backups, and it burst into life as if nothing had happened. I don't understand it, one day it works, then a few days later it won't ackle at all and then three days later it is back and happy with life again. Nett result is that it seems that I don't have to shell out for a new scanner just yet, maybe the 1670 overheard that it was to be replaced and had second thoughts about retirement. I am still puzzled by Peter C's comments about different horizontal and vertical resolutions, but may have come across ...

Templot is a wonderful piece of software, but not something you use every day, so it's inevitable with something this complex, we all need help in sudden bursts as we try something new. Thanks to your guidance, I've now reached a point where I can start to fly on a whole raft on new skills. Please bear in mind I started this project with zero knowledge on producing a mimic panel and now just a few weeks later, I feel very capable of turning out something I shall be very pleased with.
