... chamfered rail ends that gave me so much grief! That's it for now Kind regards Andrew Last edited on 7 Aug 2019 07:15 by Andrew Duncan posted: 6 Aug 2019 18:18 from: Tony W Hi Andrew. I think you are either very brave or very foolish attempting such a combination. My personal limit for the angle of a fixed diamond crossing in EM is 1 in 7 and that with both roads straight. Even so I find that reliability can be iffy at times. The track gauge at the center of the obtuse crossings needs to be absolute minimum and I set this to 18.0mm even when using 18.2mm gauge elsewhere to maximize the chance of success. I emphasize the track gauge of each road NOT the minimum distance as measured directly between the knuckles centers. For flatter angles than this I insist on a switched crossing. However, I must congratulate you on your perseverance and determination to make it work. Particularly using largely functional chairs, which I have not had much luck with thus far. Many years ago, I was ...

And everyone else can see them. regards, Martin. posted: 18 Jan 2016 02:54 from: Andrew Barrowman Hi Martin, Thank you for the update. Please don't hold up the next release for this If you can include the single block marker that is oriented correctly at each rail gauge-line/timber center-line intersection, that will still be a huge step forward. What I would do with it then is to import a 2D Templot dxf into cad and substitute three bolt chairs for all those markers. From there it is really simple to highlight, for example, all the chairs that should be check-rail chairs and substitute those for the three bolt chairs, etc., etc. If you have a sandbox version that I can somehow access, I'll be happy to test it for compatibility with cad applications. ...

Sorry just had to write down this well deserved compliment for the designer! Anyway, i would like to have my mainline with 4 tracks on the borders of my garden. What spacing do i must use to get a prototypical look between the tracks? (gauge one). I thought it was 4 inches between the two tracks, or 6 inch from center to center line? When i do double track i will get 106mm for center to center, that will be 5 cm in between the tracks. Is that not to small? This is still a work in progress, inside the "squire" is the shed to park all the rolling stock, and will contain 3 way switches.Any thought, trick, hint, comment or mistakes found ect will be very appreciated. Thanks in advance, with best regards Igor. Attachment: attach_3094_3702_spacing_quistion .box 82 Last edited on 17 Jun 2020 ...

That said, it is probably the only way to have an accurate representation of the superior trackwork, so it has to be part of the solution. However, "merely" a graphical representation and exchange doesn't really satisfy on two levels- It doesn't allow the joining of elements correctly inside the program- that is the object being entered into XTrackCAD should have end points that are correct as to position, angle and radius and center of curvature (the later two being determined by the piece of track entering into the end point). That way a piece of track joined to that trackwork will correctly align and have a compatible easement- it would be too bad to have a fantastic bit of hand-built Templot let down by a poor attachment to the mundane track work elsewhere. One would not be able to simulate even to a simplistic extent a train running across the new Templot trackwork (including all its switching possibilities). This is a mode ...

... topic: 2055 Center Re-Rails posted: 13 Sep 2012 18:10 from: Mark C Folks, Found this picture of something that I've seen mostly leading into and along bridges and trestles. I have heard them called "Center ReRails". To me, they look like extreme or super guard rails, except for the larger flangeway. I have been wondering if something like this be used as a more prototypical re-railer than the hokey sectional pieces used for getting model train cars railed properly. Assuming something like this could be useful, is there any way of creating it in Templot2? Mark C 2480_131302_410000000.jpg posted: 14 Sep 2012 00:17 from: Tony W Hi Mark. Yes it can be created in Templot. Attached is the box file for an English equivalent that I did for someone recently. The principle can be adapted to your example by using short straight end rails, putting the peg on the inner rail ends and rotating them to the desired angle. Tony. I wondered if there is a simple-ish way, of converting a slew to a set of transition curves. My attempts have been a bit rubbish so far. The reason for the conversion is that I need to put some turnouts on the slew and I find this easier to do with transition curves than with slews.
