... native language. This was my side of the story.(knife) With best regards Igor Kurgan from the Netherlands. Hi Igor, Can you post some photos of your track? I have thought of laying some track in my back garden which is more like a rock quarry than a garden. Mine would have to be rather sturdy. It will have to survive deer and the occasional moose stepping on it. Cheers! Andy posted: 22 Aug 2020 08:17 from: Godfrey Earnshaw To everyone, I am not criticising your efforts merely the way you have gone about doing it. As for a garden railway, I have one, it is a 4 track mainline, with a 2 track branch, the trains are almost all electric, with a few diesel freights. Not for me DCC. To be authentic it is powered at 750Vdc and the scale is 1:1. Yes, I live near the Brighton Main Line, in Three Bridges. You see there is no need to build one in my own back garden, someone ...

It's a bit premature to say that. Bear in mind that the business was for sale for 2 years, and came close to closing down entirely. Anyone criticising the new operation was entirely free to have taken it on themselves. If the business is still giving poor service after another 12 months, fair enough to criticise. But in the meantime be grateful that the supplies are still available. There isn't any other supplier for many of the components -- there must be a reason for that. ... Many thanks for the reply and the kind offer to have a look. I have now had a go at the switches and, yes, an "A" with slit delfelction looks much better- if a bit tedious to do. 50Mb is quite some helpfile! I don't think even MS win32 is that big! But I look forward to your alternative. I have now had a go at a tandem- it took me about three hours but I did do the check rails this time. .box herewith for all to criticise. Would it be *Easy* to add a preview button to those lengthy data-entry dialogues (like the wing/ check customise)? They nearly caused me to lose the will to live trying to remember all the meanings of the different values and if it were possilbe to see the effects *real time* then it would be a big help. All the same, I am quite pleased with the results- the printed version looks fabulous. Many thanks again, Howard. Attachment: attach_270_422_Tandem.box 354 posted: ...

Like you my memory is getting worse and I am at least 7 years in advance of you, I think. I managed perfectly alright without the notch linking functions, it was just so nice to discover them and irritating that I had missed them for so long. One thing I wasn't doing is criticising you, as I am sure you know. Another thing I never do, is travel anywhere without Templot. It has been to many corners of this country and a lot of the world. Thank you Godders posted: 14 Sep 2020 14:11 from: Martin Wynne Hi Godders, I didn't think you were criticising me! Actually by about the '50s the lines curving off the to left were not used so much, apart from the "Kings" being attached to Southbound expresses that came in behinh usually a "Castle" or a "Hall" from Chester. Feel free to criticise, I'm still feeling my way and getting to learn the best way to "build" a plan up. Mighty impressive size you have there, is it to scale? Irregular diamonds tend to need the use of multiple partial templates, but I think Martin might have a way around that? Dave posted ...

Hi Richard, Well it's all fruit in a bowl, but you don't criticise an orange for not being more like a banana. You can't design track in Word, and you can't write a letter in Templot. So this frequent assumption that both should somehow work the same way seems very strange to me. Apart from anything else, the usage conditions are very different. Word you might launch and exit a dozen times in an hour. With Templot it's much more likely that you start it once and then leave it running for a whole evening. So a few extra clicks at startup is neither ...

... - if you want simple set track, as others have said- go for a different programme. If you want realistic plans that you can establish firmly in your own mind and be sure that if it works on screen it will work for real, then Templot is the only choice. Then there's the last point. Cost. I shall be making a donation on payday, but at the moment I have not paid a penny and yet have had help from Martin (and others) on here. Therefore for someone to criticise this programme is fundamentally out of order. I for one would be very unlikely to go back to pen, paper and string for working curves. Derek posted: 1 Nov 2014 15:09 from: dharma66 I'm late to this party, and confess I have not read every post. I am now in the position of needing to plan and make my own oo-sf points and trackwork. Firstly I must make it clear that I am DEEPLY! impressed with the power of Templot. I cannot think of a programme ever being more capable than it is for precise track planning. So please keep that in mind as I am definitely not criticising Templot in any way. I find the videos very useful but some of the terminology is different now (with the latest version of Templot) than that used in videos or previous 'tutorial webs'. That aside, today, I finally had the 'eureka' moment and was able to use a scanned map as a background and have started to lay track on it. One thing which seems to be missing from current templot is 'swell curving' it looks better suited in some instances for bending track as it bends between two ...

... a single usable image at the desired angle. This question should really be addressed to the NLS rather than Templot. It is their web site which is failing to work in the embedded browser -- for example the "script error" messages, and the fact that mouse-dragging doesn't work (in Windows10), it is necessary to use the arrow keys to move around. Those problems don't arise with other map sites such as OS Maps and OpenStreetMap, which work fine in the embedded browser without errors. However, criticising NLS is a bit unfair when they are a non-profit providing an amazing mapping resource free of charge. The real culprit is Microsoft, who still implement the Windows API WebBrowser component using an old version of Internet Explorer -- I believe the rendering engine is IE7. Even in Windows10 they haven't upgraded it to the Edge rendering engine. This is typical of Windows, where fancy new stuff that no-one wants gets added to the desktop, but the underlying works are years old. Look for example at the ...
