... topic: 894 Help diagnosing real world clamp lock turnout posted: 10 Jul 2009 13:09 from: m davies I've been on a little field trip for photos of modern trackwork, the objective is for prototype information for fine 7mm modeling and an attempt to come to grips with turn out naming and the real world. Attached a reduced image of the turnout (B1312) at Ipswich, I'm confused about what look like blocks between the rails (circled green) above the slide blocks (circled white), are these rubber ?, the blocks circled red are clearly substantial ironworks, I do have the COP document GK/RC0774 open here but haven't or don't seem to have found that page yet. Using Templot and sleeper spacings I've kind of guessed its a C or D 13, the crossing is definately 1:13 as stamped, its the length or full designation I'm after. He can see the "Continue" link at the bottom of the first page (it's not clear how that fits with seeing no text), but apparently clicking it is disabled. regards, Martin. posted: 20 Apr 2010 12:16 from: kenbec Martin, On the information you have been given I don't see how you can possibly answer this query. It is pretty obvious that the problem is at his end so without knowing which version of the operating system and browser he is using it will be difficult to diagnose this problem. Has he kept Java Script and Flash Player up to date? So when he goes to the address you suggested did he see the video and the Static Track Plan on his screen before he clicked on the Track Plan Video? After that did everything except the "Continue" link just disappear? It makes no sense that the "Continue" link is sitting there in solitary splendour, and that it is disabled. It has no connection with the video tutorial. I think that this is possibly a bit ...

It has taken me a bit of trial and error and I decided to upgrade to the latest TEMPLOT version in order to diagnose my errors. Most of the dimensions are written on the drawing. It was hard to find, but eventually I discovered the Heel offset is 130mm, rail to Heel is 6000mm, toe to heel is 5250. The second set of switches are shorter- something to adjust later. I am having trouble positioning the Timbers, I had desired entering the details in the Custom Timber Settings tool. I can not determine what to set the dimensions to get the timber located properly. In the end I used the Push Timber ...

... Exactoscale Company is not responding posted: 31 May 2011 13:01 from: Dellboy Hi I have two outstanding orders with Exactoscale with no explanation advised. Recent attempts to contact them by phone regarding the orders has produced 'unavailable' and their message leaving service is full. Obviously a backlog is building up. No clues on their web page. Does any one know what is amiss with Exactoscale ?? posted: 31 May 2011 13:19 from: David R When I last spoke to Len in April he had just been diagnosed with potentially quite a serious condition after several months of ongoing illness. They now know what the problem is and he is finally getting the appropriate treatment. However, during this time, he has not been able to devote as much time to the Exactoscale business as he would normally, so some things have been delayed. I would suggest (even more) patience, snail-mail correspondence (it does still work sometimes), and ensure that any email has the word EXACTOSCALE in the subject line. Regards David R ...

(They don't call me MOTO for nothing you know.) I was thinking of the export more as a diagnostic than a workaround. I'm not sure if this would help or complicate things even more, but Gordon might be able to save some paper while diagnosing the problem by printing to Cutepdfwriter http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp rather than a physical printer. If I understand correctly, Cutepdfwriter masquerades as a printer but instead of printing on paper, it prints to a PDF file instead. I used to use it quite a bit on XP, but I don't have it installed on any machines at the moment. Tony W wrote: We came to the conclusion that because the Copydex never set it was allowing the track sections to drift relative to one another. I never had any problems on the last layout with the Copydex allowing movement but it is very difficult to diagnose the root cause when we can only see the symptom. I suspect there is no such thing as the perfect glue, just "different" properties. I also wonder if we are guilty of just talking about "PVA"- there are probably a wide range of different formulations out there with a range of different properties. One thing I am wary of with "PVA" is that it is certainly very active chemically and therefore has potentially unpredictable consequences. It is also very "old hat"- what do we ...

... topic: 1849 Help needed to save my sanity posted: 29 Feb 2012 17:44 from: Phil O Hi All Can someone please help to save my sanity? When I boot up my PC a Hewlett Packard running Windows XP, everything goes as it should until just after the Desktop screen, then I get a screen come up from internet explorer which says that IE is unable to show the page, below which is a small box which says "diagnose this problem". This is not normally a problem admittedly as it is usually got rid of by clicking the X in the top right corner or Ctrl, Alt, Delete and using the task manager to close it. But in this case the screen is so large that it hides everything behind it, any ideas PLEASE. I had to resort to the laptop to send this. Many Thanks in advance Phil posted: 29 Feb 2012 18:26 from: Ian Allen Phil, Sounds like your PC is starting up IE before it has an internet connection, hence the error message ...

... within 5 weeks and little printing. Assuming the printer is worn out (I find it rare tough) and the paper is fed faster on one side, I guess the printed purple boarders would be bent, but these are precisely straight. I have no other drawing program in use, hence no possibility to compare. I want to try the functions that Templot has on board and report the results. Regards, René posted: 2 Jul 2014 19:49 from: renluethi Hi Martin, Problem solved. Canon offers a diagnose tool for download. This tool showed a wrong printer driver installed, a BIJ driver instead of the IP5200 driver. Don't ask how that happens, and in spite of that, the printer was everywhere declared as IP5200. Now lets go track lying, a part of the yard throat including nine turnouts and a single slip are waiting. Thank you for wading into the problem. This meant he shut down his engineering consultation business and, due to the lack of interest, the kit design business. With my being a carer for the second time of an elderly ill parent the modelling has stopped for the several years but the research continues. ... topic: 2754 The Latest Version... is not the Latest Version posted: 7 Oct 2015 20:34 from: andycarlson I've diagnosed and resolved this problem now, but thought you ought to know about it... I haven't used Templot (or made any track) for a while. Yesterday I fired it up again (2.07a) and got the 'not the latest version' error and told to download the latest- 2.11b. No surprises there. I downloaded 2.11b, installed it and it fired up just fine from the installer. Fired it up again today... got the splash screen saying it was 2.11b and then the error 'not the latest version'. Then the browser page opens telling me I need to download... 2.11b. I've now found out that there really *IS* a new version, but I'd have to say that this caused me a good deal of confusion and several attempts at deinstalls, reinstalls etc before I discovered the correct answer. I also discovered that hitting F5 on the browser ...

It also costs nothing. regards, Martin. All you need is one of these. 2983_082026_130000000.jpg This was my test lab where we spent huge amounts verifying product compatibility with MS. Admittedly we were creating drivers which MS would cheerfully break every time they put out a new release. And, I think you are quite right.
