Howard. posted: 16 Oct 2012 11:33 from: Ian Allen Hi Howard, There are a number of sources, but we are going to purchase from RH Nuttall in Birmingham. http://www.rhnuttall.co.uk/Welcome.html I had a sample brochure from them and a strip of EPDM and one of Neoprene. EPDM is the firmer of the two. Some of the other types are either too soft or too firm, with some being almost solid. Ian posted: 16 Oct 2012 12:50 from: MarkAustin I'm not convinced by the use of flexible track underlay: if you are using loose, glued ballast, in my experince, the track sets rigid regardless of the underlay. What are other people's experience in this? posted: 16 Oct 2012 13:22 from: Ian Allen Mark, Diluted Copydex/Latex adhesive stays flexible. I ...

... could make the paper too wet and cause cockling. If you are printing large scale templates for 0 Gauge and above it is worth changing the timber and rail infill to a lighter colour, or to hatching instead of solid infill. 6. Try not to use ordinary thin office paper. Thicker 160gsm paper (which feels like very thin card) is very much easier to trim and fit together accurately, and the extra thickness makes for a more controlled feed and less trouble with shrinkage or cockling. It also makes a much firmer template to work on for track construction. 7. Open a sealed pack of paper and allow it to acclimatise to the ambient conditions for a few days before printing. 8. Modern printers are quite flimsy in construction. Make sure that all the feet are standing firm on a flat level surface. Any twist in the printer frame is likely to cause inaccuracies in the printed result. A printer propped up on a pile of books will definitely not produce accurate templates. regards, Martin. posted: 10 Feb 2010 14 ...

... heads was 1.74mm. But mostly they are in the range 1.60- 1.65mm across. Head thickness. Measurements range from 0.48mm to 0.53mm. Pressing a few firmly into Veroboard, trimming and filing flush on the underside, they are proud by 0.51mm. The desired rail lift is 0.58mm, so this is perhaps a fraction thinner than I was hoping for, although it does leave a couple of thou for the solder. The shank diameter ranges from 0.89mm to 0.93mm. So drilling 0.90 or 0.95mm holes rather than 1.0mm would make a firmer fit, and may cause the heads to stand slightly more proud. The ribs under the head are tapered and difficult to measure. Immediately under the head they are about 1.3mm across for a grip in the holes. The overall length is 6.5mm (1 /4 "). After so much advance in electronics over the last 40 years it is strange to see these still easily available and seemingly the same as before. regards, Martin. posted: 2 Jun 2015 20:24 from: madscientist Just be aware there ...

... move! In my experience, relying on extensions is just too flaky and would come back and bite us one day. Could you please let me know what you changed for this (maybe a couple of before/after clips) and I will put it into my version. I do not want to release anything which writes OTBOX files without this byte set. This is solely to identify the source of the file, it is not read on normal loading so doesn't prevent any existing OTBOX files from loading. I think a firmer stance on this is justified, but this should be fine, given that (hopefully) the OTBOX format will be short-lived and we will be able to use a text-based format shortly.
