... a few more days of my Templot-time. 2. When you provide the answer to a question with which you are completely satisfied, the answer that is or even if you see one you like in the daily message files from another member. Index it immediately. That is my intention. When there is enough in the index to make it worth visiting, I shall re-compile and upload a new version daily. For those reading this and wondering, the index is at: http://www.templot.com/forum_index/ (It is currently on my UK hosting, but I shall probably move it to Ohio when fully operational.) There is one set of pages which definitely needs a much more prominent link, that is: http://www.templot.com/martweb/pug_info.htm and an additional page with the 091 changes info. regards, Martin. posted: 25 Feb 2010 07:52 from: BruceNordstrand Martin I have thought this for a while now, but why don't you install one of the free Wiki products floating around. ...

... of finding things. And me -- several times recently I have replied to a message, only to discover that I had written the same thing years ago, sometimes with diagrams, and that I could have simply posted a link. But I can't possibly go through 13,000 messages to create an index single-handed -- it would take forever. That's where you come in. I have started an embryo index with just a handful of entries, which you can try at: http://www.templot.com/forum_index The original pages from both Templot Club and the Yahoo group are embedded in the results pane, so they may take a second or two to arrive. In addition to the alphabetical Index, there is a structured expanding contents tree which you can see by clicking the Contents tab. The structure there is just an initial trial and can easily be re-arranged as necessary as the site expands. If you think this looks promising and you would like to help me extend it into something useful, this is what to do ...

... topic on Templot Club is that that page is indexed -- so in future Templot users looking for information about DXF exports will be able to go straight to it and see your notes and comments, without having to search the entire Templot Club for likely looking topics. This is your opportunity to help improve the Templot user docs -- by writing it yourself! Here's a direct link to the new page. Just scroll down, click one of the reply buttons, and off you go: http://www.templot.com/forum_index/index.html?export_in_dxf_format.htm Click the Contents tab on the left to see how this page fits in the overall scheme. n.b. If you are currently receiving emails direct from Templot Club, you need to add the new forum to your list of emailed forums. Go to My Account> Emailed Messages, tick the box for "Companion Plus" and click Save. If you receive emails via the Yahoo group, there is no need to do anything. Comments welcome as always. Hi Ken, Yes, I'm well aware of that. It is however, the best I can manage. I have started improved systems from time to time -- the most recent is the embryo A-Z Index at: http://www.templot.com/forum_index/ But that again has not moved for months because such work is simply too time-consuming. My priority is to complete the missing parts of the program -- irregular diamonds, gaunt turnouts, split deflection switches, flat-bottom foot lines, pdf output, raster output, the sketchbook feature, saving settings... and only then to write a proper set of docs. Until then it is wasted effort because so much will need repeated revision. As to time scales, a release every 2 years is ...

... the screenshot included with it is out-of-date and needs remaking. Or it needs qualifying with additional information. But it is available anyway as it stands, using the Search functions: http://85a.co.uk/forum/search_templot.htm In fact I did begin work on the very thing you are asking for -- an A-Z Index. It hasn't moved for months because it proved to be so time-consuming, but you can see what there is so far at: http://www.templot.com/forum_index/ I asked for some simple help in compiling that, see: topic 797 but only one member ever responded. I'm really sorry that I can't be a one-man Adobe or Autodesk Inc, but there are practical limits to what I can do. The Templot Companion pages and this Templot Club forum is the best solution we can manage. You ask, someone usually answers. If you look on forums such as RMweb and MRF you can see folks all over the world successfully using Templot and posting some amazing results ...
