Templot includes a banner printing option, so if your printer allows it you could maybe print templates directly to the cork track underlay on an inkjet printer? Also available in A4 sheets if you can't do banners. It's only 1.5mm thick, so would probably need an additional cork or foam roadbed layer below it. It needs a printer with a straight-through paper path. I imagine the backing paper might give it sufficient stability to feed through. Just an idea, I've not tried it, may contain nuts. From what you say, I'm beginning to have some doubts about my video card. It has been known to crash the system if I'm viewing certain formats of video- You Tube causes it to fall over quite a lot. Could this be a video freeze rather than a systemwide problem. Do you know if the crash infromation I sent you with my original message gives a clue? I've been playing about with my full plan this morning and there have been no problems so far. If no one else experiences this difficulty, I'll put it down to a hardware issue at my end. ... chat. Hi Richard, Templot is a recreational hobby program for home computers, and the web site is designed on that basis. However I have now replaced the embedded chat room with an indirect link. This means it now takes two clicks to enter the chat room, but it prevents the chat room window from pulling the page focus. ... Phil, we had a chat about the hobby and C&L, and my order was delivered. He's taken on a significant operation! I've visited C&L whilst it was in the capable hands of Brian Lewis, and it's certainly not a garden shed operation! Just be aware that C&L now operate in an area with poor mobile signal, so things can be tricky. I'm also grateful that the range hasn't disappeared, so don't mind delays although it's always good to be reassured that something is happening. Give him time! Cut a load of (ply) crossing timbers to length or pre cut sleepers in an old butter tub chuck some Ronseal in, put the lid on give it a good shake, have a look to see if they have all stained, if yes drain off the excess into another tub for re-use, if not repeat the first step. When satisfied I tip them out on a couple of sheets of news paper to dry. I use Dark Jacobean Oak stain. If you leave them to dry in the sun they will eventually start to bleach as per the prototype. The drawings enlarge so that detail can be seen. They are very useful for the first-timer as you can see what goes where. The roller type track gauges from C&L will give you check rail spacing as they have grooves for both the running and check rails. For check rail chairs it depends on the type of ordinary chairs you intend to use. For two bolt chairs use these but trim back the base to 30thou beyond the rail and use two per check rail chair. For three bolt chairs use four bolt chairs for the check rails trimmed back as above. Have a good look at drawings and pictures before you start. Don't forget to get some bridge chairs for the locations where ordinary chairs ...

What is the best way to align two roads when they are coming from points at opposite ends of loops? Minimum radius is 4 ft (1220mm), but I would use a larger radius or an intervening straight on any reverse curves. I am wondering if the first point on the RHS loops would be better as a Y, which I think is 1838mm radius left and right from the centre line? Any comments or suggestions? Thanks ...

Like most modellers, available space in which to build a layout is limited. For me it is a small box room measuring 10'x9'. The design is based on a small North British Railway urban terminus, in S-Scale. To give maximum running in a small room, the station area is spread around the room in a 'u' shape with the fiddle yard situated outside in the hallway. Of course, the fiddle yard will only be erected for running sessions. The inner two lines are the 'up' and 'down' lines,the third outer most line entering the fiddle yard leads to an imaginery off scene goods yard and loco shed.
