In your article at http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f =11&t =51055 you say They are very similar to the NMRA gauge in use and do come with extensive instructions showing all aspects of the gauges use. Well the ones I received do have extensive instructions but they are in German. As the only German I understand is after it has been translated into English I am wondering if you received an English version of the instructions. Could you please let me know? By a coincidence the FastTracks three point gauges also arrived today, thanks for your help here as well. ken Last edited on 6 Apr 2010 12:03 by kenbec posted: 6 Apr 2010 20:48 from: ...

... Method B. you can create an irregular diamond-crossing by directly overlaying the curved tracks. This gives you more control of the different radii if necessary. 1. start with the two lengths of curved plain track crossing over each other, or one curved and one straight length. One should be a background template and the other the control template. 2. click on the background template. 3. on its menu, click peg/align tools> make diamond-crossing at intersection menu item. 4. follow the instructions and wait a moment while Templot does the calculations. 5. you will then need to split the underlying original background template and shorten each half back accordingly. This method won't work as it stands for transition curves, it is for straights and fixed-radius curves only. Also it is very easy to have the tracks crossing at too short an angle. Templot can't produce crossings shorter than 1: 1.5 RAM( i.e. not more than 33.7 degrees). This method also works for two straight tracks intersecting, but ...

Apparently the resolution is: "Up to 4,800 x 600 dpi". Such high resolution in a printer makes no sense to me (human eyes can't resolve beyond about 600dpi at best, and often much less), and I don't know what "up to" means, because I can't find any means in the instructions to change it. However, 4800dpi is way beyond anything I had in mind when writing the Templot printer code years ago, and I'm a bit surprised it works at all. It's far higher than on inkjet printers. What is clear that the resolution in one direction is 8 times greater than the other. This means that changing from end-run to side-run printing may change things entirely. Missing rails may reappear, while others may disappear. Have you tried that? If this resolution can't be changed in ...

But as we all know, life and reality are not like that, and one has to work at things and often show a little patience to get what is required. Having said all that, now to my point, as you may be aware, I have tried to write one or two tutorial help instructions for particular track formations, and other members have done the same from time to time. The problem with these written articles is that they tend to lie buried and lost in the multitude of postings and listings and require some effort in searching for them when required, assuming that one can find the correct combination of words to search for them. My suggestion here is, that you could provide an area on the Templot club web site, something like the Image gallery, but for tutorial instruction and help guides that members could ...
