... topic: 3244 Make a ladder crossing with single slip posted: 19 Mar 2018 16:46 from: Charles Warr Hello. I am a new member having difficulty constructing a ladder crossing with a single slip almost identical to that demonstrated in the video except my slip goes from the main into a siding. By following the video instructions I have built the diamond crossing and prepared the turnout by removing the timbering and centre lines. Because my slip goes from main to siding I pegged the turnout to the first half diamond at MCP and it appears to fit exactly. Using Tools – make slip I see the latest version differs from the video. I am offered a choice and chose single slip same hand. The complete slip is constructed in one go rather than the 2 steps in the video – very good. Now my problem. I seem to have the slip superimposed on the diamond crossing. If I wipe the half diamonds I get a lovely set of rails but no timbers. What am I doing wrong? A second problem is the rails ...

File searching with Notepad++ might be possible, if you can remember some details for the template. e.g. we know it is number 144 in the box and a C-10. These lines were laid by contractors (Benton& Woodiwiss in the case of Hawes station in 1877/8, under the supervision of the Midland Railway's resident engineer, Frank Lynde, and engineer-in-chief, John Crossley). Am I naive in assuming that the contractors would have used some sort of measuring device to lay a new line like this and that the supervising engineers might also have used one to check that the contractors were implementing their instructions correctly? I can see that marks on the rails, position of sleepers, and an experienced eye could be used to instal replacement track, but I find it hard to believe that the contractors and supervising engineers would not have used something to ensure that the track was laid with a reasonable degree of accuracy when it was first installed. posted: 2 Jan 2013 16:21 from: Alan Turner Bob Ellis wrote: The last few posts on this topic have referred to the laying of replacement track and have set me ...
