... : 2992 Antivirus problem posted: 25 Feb 2017 15:12 from: David Long I have just tried to load the latest Templot upgrade but my antivirus (Avast) has spotted something it doesn't like. It appeared to be blocking it and my desktop short cut has disappeared but all my files are still visible on my hard drive. I could possibly turn off my antivirus temporarily but without the short cut I can't get into Templot even though it is still in my hard drive. Any advice would be appreciated. In the meantime I have transferred my box files to a memory stick so that they won't be lost. I still have to try to get the upgrade onto my laptop and am anticipating the same problem. I have re-arranged the dialogs several times over the years but it still seems to cause problems. I have re-done it all yet again in the next program update, which I hope will finally make it easier, and which introduces some new options such as drag-and-drop and direct scanning. I'm hoping to have that available very soon, but in the meantime here is a brief description for the existing version 213a. (Please do not try to follow this if you are still using an earlier version of Templot.) Update now available, see: topic 2966- message 21052 For background maps and track plans: Your model gauge/scale needs to be set in Templot before you begin. e.g. 0-MF. Don't forget this. Martin explained the reason for a long entry straight when a crossing was 'flatter' than its switch. The NER used for 1:9 upwards for a B, but also on a 7 but not a 7.5 (with a B8 being 'natural'). I have purchased a copy of BRT3 as recommended, but in the meantime the table I have doesn't show a B7 straight entry. I have a photo that I know is a B, but due to perspective (and correction tools have not helped) I cannot tell its vee. It has an entry straight of AT LEAST 8'6", which is too short for a B9. I'm hoping the B7 entry straight will either match up with the photo or be clearly not a match, either way I can tell which it is. According to the books from the NER Association, it seems ...

... usual auto-fit option: 1. you are shortening this particular turnout to get a better fit to the available space, without wanting to change the switch size or crossing angle. In this case you would leave the boxes unticked, so that the setting reverts to auto-fit on subsequent templates. Or 2. you are matching a specific prototype drawing to produce a custom template. In this case you would probably want to tick the boxes, so that the setting is retained in all your subsequent templates. In the meantime in all existing versions of Templot, without those boxes available, you should know that the effective behaviour is: as if the retain on mint box is unticked -- minting a new template always reverts to auto-fit, and as if the retain on tools:make box is ticked -- the fixed at... option is retained until you change it. This means that for the present in case 1 above, you need to come back and reset the auto-fit option manually before creating further templates ...

In 211b the make diamond-crossing function sets the V-crossings as "curviform" even when both are the same angle (straight or same radius in both tracks), in which case they should be "regular".
