The problem is that the presence of trackbed edges (and even more so with platforms) extends the active area of a template, so in complex formations they are increasingly likely to overlap. Then when you click on them, Templot doesn't know which template you mean. I will do something about this. In the meantime the solution is to use the template name labels instead: 1. put the name labels on, if not already (END key). 2. hold down the SHIFT key, or put the CAPS LOCK on. 3. select a template by clicking on its name label, instead of on the template. 4. if the labels are also overlapping, click on the top one, and on its popup menu click name labels> bat name label to bat its label out of the way. It might be a bit counter-intuitive to some users to have clickable blank menu items. I think they will need to have an M on them at least. In the meantime you can avoid needing to click that menu item at all. If you hold down the CTRL key while clicking the template, that does make the control immediately. ... where to start. What I'm after is 9mm gauge, 3.5mm scale track with a specific sleeper size, using HOe/N standards but with Code 40 rail. I can get as far as editing one of the Custom gauges, but can't find a way of adjusting rail width, sleeper length etc. Any help would be appreciated. That's a bug which I introduced inadvertently in the latest program update, as I mentioned in my previous reply. Sorry about that. It will be fixed in the next update, but in the meantime you can get the sleepers back by making it the control template and then clicking the real> timbering> rolled-in timbering> rolled-in length sleepered menu item. (The reason for rolling the rails in a return curve is to interlace the timbering at the V-crossing exit, so avoiding the need to do a lot of timber shoving. Which is fun, but probably not a lot of practical use for track planning. It is of course worldwide, unlike NLS, so if you are looking only for general scaling and the locations of structures it may help. I tend to use Wipe a fair bit when I am in "doodle" mode like this as it means there is always an undo route- no matter what might go wrong in the meantime. And the 50% of subsequently unused templates are easily purged. But I agree that Make might have been a better example to quote! Just also to mention that I used the "Make slip" function on one of the diamonds- my goodness, that saves some work- well done for that! The problem is that you have set geometry> turnout road exit length to the adjustable setting. That option is not being honoured properly when doing the conversion. Sorry about that. For the template illustrated you could change to normal. But that won't be convenient in many cases, so I will get it fixed as soon as possible. In the meantime your only fix is to adjust the exit length manually on each converted turnout (CTRL+ F12 mouse action). After removing them, the file seems to load ok -- attached below. All of which is a bit puzzling, because that was clearly nothing to do with image bitmaps (the trigger for that error message) -- the change has reduced the file size by only 3KB. I need to spend some more time to figure out what may have happened, but in the meantime hopefully this file below will be ok. Do your background shapes contain any very large rectangles?
