... the web links have been half etched away and some ballast sprinkled over. The tabs from sleeper to border have also been half cut, so that the border will snap off easily. The material is .8mm (nominal) ply. P3280827.jpg Best regards Mike posted: 29 Mar 2009 19:02 from: Brian Lewis Just a thought Mike. All timber and timber products imported into the EU must comply with the requirements of the International Standards for Phytosanitory Measures 15 (ISPM 15). There are no exceptions to this and the penalties for ignoring this- both for the consignor and the consignee are severe. Now folk handling timber should be well aware of this, as Australia has probably the strictest rules- your Government's AQIS 19 notice is probably implanted in the hearts of all exporters to Oz. You should be able to find locally, a certification company who will be able to certify that wood products complied with ISPM 15 when they left your premises and will issue a certificate to that effect. With this there will be no problems with it clearing by ...

... is balanced against the problems and costs that arise if/when any form of Wrong Direction movement with a train Carrying Passengers needs to be made if the points that become Facing do not have installed locking. Essentially- all non-locked points have to be Clipped, Scotched and flagged before a Passenger Carrying, Wrong Direction movement can be made- this includes dragging a failed train back. With the massive reduction in manpower this has become nearly impossible- or, at best, involves a massive delay- and delays now incur penalties. Because penalties are cumulative a single delay can easily be far greater than the cost of providing locking. For the really modern scene there is also a strong trend to make all Passenger Carrying lines Bi-Directional. This Bi-Di facility can be complete or as an reduced provision. In either case it means that all connections become potentially Facing for Passenger Carrying movements- and therefore all the points get to be fitted and interlocked with FPL arrangements. In addition- the development of larger and faster freight trains from the ...

... 17 Aug 2017 20:02 from: Andrew Barrowman Thanks for the ideas Martin and Phil. I should be able to strengthen the inside half of the check rail jaws as they are fairly well hidden. With that and minimizing the flair might be sufficient. Breaking out the vee section is a good idea. My only concern is that it adds some tolerance in the position of the vee relative to the rest of the frog, but maybe it's manageable. One of the nice things about printing is there isn't much of a penalty for proliferating a lot of different versions. I'm thinking I might end up with a version that has all metal rails and a live frog and another version that has printed checks and wings with a dead frog. These days with DCC and keep alive caps stalling on dead frogs isn't a problem, and some people really can't be bothered with the extra effort associated with frog polarity switching. I was actually referring to the different situation where a customer has signed up with an email verification service. When you try to send the customer an email, you get one back from the verification service saying that it will not be delivered until you visit the service's web site and prove who you are, why you are writing to the customer, and agree to be bound by various conditions on pain of severe financial penalties. The one I had the other day required me to agree to pay them $20,000 if I ever send the customer an email which they regard as spam. If I didn't click the box to agree, my original email wouldn't be delivered. regards, Martin. posted: 5 Mar 2008 17:27 from: Alan Turner Hi, my understanding is that the recipient can pre-authorise your e-mail. I'm not asking what is best (ply and rivet, pcb, or ply and chair. Any others....?) but essentially which is quickest? I suspect ply and rivet is slower than the others, and clearly chair and ply looks better than pcb, but is there a time and financial penalty? 4. Just a quicky about Templot: I think I understand "copy to current", but what is the difference in use between "wipe to current" and "delete to current". Presumably delete to current deletes the template from the storage box, and you won't have a copy there of what the template was like before you modified it. But what does "wipe" do? It is convenient for purchasers to have a choice of payment method, but I also take the view that it is up to a vendor to determine what forms of payment are acceptable to do business. The penalty a vendor may have to accept is that any limitation of method of payment may result in lost sales. Given the statistics of your time in business, the potential loss is acceptably small, especially when the extra hassle of postal ordering is taken into account. ... gravity moves forward as Mr Barrowman would be well aware of. Cars are a slightly different animal. Yes centre of gravity is still important, so distribution of weight is critical for certain performance requirements. That is why front mid-engined and rear mid-engined cars tend to dominate the cutting edge of sports car racing and high performance cars. In the old days it was transaxle gearboxes to get the beat weight distribution. Outside of Rally cars four wheel drive not so much. Though efficient there are weight and mechanical friction penalties. With four wheel drive It is not an issue of weight so much as options. You have more mechanical options. When one wheel loses grip three more are still working and when one axle set loses grip the other one can bail you out of trouble depending on how complex the differential/stability control system is. With four wheel drive off-road it also comes down to axle articulation in the really rough stuff. In fact suspension design is as important as good tyres as it helps keep the maximum amount of ...

I can't understand how I could have made such a silly mistake, and then failed to find it when testing. As others have said, no need to beat yourself up- to err is human- and you are amongst sympathetic friends! It seems to me that the rate of development of Templot is also as high as it has ever been, and if the penalty for that is an occasional slip, then for me at least, that is fine. The automatic update process means up-versioning is no problem (at least for those of us who have already got shut of AVG!) so the fixes cause no hassle at all.
