... &L stand) there was total interest in better quality trackwork what ever 4 mm gauge the modellers worked in, as opposed to other shows where top class layouts are shown where the acceptance for quality trackwork in 00 gauge is still quite low. As for the show its self, the high number of demonstration stands must be commended, something smaller/local shows seem to omit. I have no idea about those selling rolling stock kits but again there were a quite a few modellers (far more than normal) taking the plunge into trying P4, buying the odd length of track and or a turnout kit or a few track parts just to give it a go. I would guess stands selling loco or rolling stock kits would have also benefited by those who after a chat with a demonstrator went on to buy something to build posted: 26 Sep 2016 17:30 from: DerekStuart To add to Mr. Hayfield's comments, it was also noticeable how many people were talking very enthusiastically about Templot- especially those who were watching Howard Bolton's excellent tutorials ...

... design a layout with absolute prototype fidelity done to the last rail joint, but it can equally be used simply to run off templates for individual turnouts, which are similar to those you can obtain from various other sources. Even if just used for the latter I believe it to be excellent value for money, as it is far more flexible than using "fixed" templates because you can vary at will the basic parameters involved such as the crossing angle, curvature, etc. I'd suggest that anyone starting out in Templot who plunges straight into trying to produce the grand scheme they have in mind are making a big mistake. First of all start with a simple turnout. If it's one they will need then so much the better. If they can't do that then really Templot isn't for them, but I suspect that most people will be able to do that. Then maybe they could try slightly more complex formations e.g. a simple crossover, a simple loop; this will also give them the opportunity to shove timbers into a more realistic arrangement than ...

Thus, before I bought Templot,- bearing in mind that I already knew about track and had built a fair bit of P4 pointwork- I spent ages looking at the demos, viewing the tutorials on the website, etc trying to work out what it could and could not do before taking the plunge. Having come that far, I was already pre-disposed to make a go of it. And therefore its full power soon became apparent, I was hooked and the few niggles can be overlooked. But now it is free- anyone can just download it (without even bothering to think about why they want it), fire it up, spend 10 minutes not knowing what the heck they are doing, then fire a grenade off on RM Web. And it is inevitable because, in ten minutes, all ...

All of this was designed to sit between two consecutive chairs to allow easy placement. Two holes are drilled through the rail's web. These are hollow and allow the grease through to the grease plate assembly on the inside. The reason I thought that it may have been to help keep run-off to a minimum at that point is that lubricators can stop working if they get grit in the plunge guide hole or in the pump body. Immersion was not recommended. Like Martin, I can't see any other check rail or other PW item around the grease container. There is a reproduction artefact on the rail head between the next two sleepers which could be from water on the camera lens or some failure during any stage of the reproductive process. I sincerely doubt any PW staff would have left a 10 to 14 foot length of unattached steel rail next to a running line with passenger traffic. The chances of accident leading ...

Rowley Regis? http://www.railaroundbirmingham.co.uk/Stations/rowley_regis.php It was my local station when I was at school in the early '80s. It had a small oil terminal behind the station, and a bay platform on the up side IIRC. The location is suited to modelling as well, as the station is above the tracks on an overbridge and the line plunges immediately in to Old Hill tunnel, making a prototypical scenic break at that end. There was no OLE, but the rolling stock was quite varied as there would be diversionary workings as well as the usual DMU and oil trains. A quick Google means that I can't find any pictures of the oil terminal itself, but I'm sure that some more diligent research would turn some up. Everything improved with the adoption of USB connections instead of the old parallel printer cables and multi-way switches. But I'm scarred for life from printer code hassles, and I'm a bit wary of going near it. On startup Templot asks Windows which printers are available -- telling Windows which printer to use could plunge us back into the old days.
