I will note them as I go but you are making me work very hard just to get started. I purchased the program and downloaded the available version 0.74.be. Then downloaded and installed 0.91.co. The Help menu says I still have the old version. what changed? All the menus still behave as before and my growing list of complaints were not fixed. Here are some complaints: 1. Calibrating the printer: The menu for entering data in the field does not allow me to back up. If there is an error, I have to start over. No indication that I have to hit Enter to go to the next field. The entire calibration procedure is cumbersome. All of this should be done from one menu and not jumping through so many. I have spent 20 minutes getting this to work before finding out that someone has somehow altered ...

... topic: 124 00-SF history and information posted: 10 Aug 2007 05:25 from: Martin Wynne Dear all, There has been a rather acrimonious discussion about 00-SF on the RMweb forum today in which my name has been mentioned. I thought I would write a few notes about the background to 00-SF. Please feel free to copy this to RMweb or the 00-SF group if you wish. I myself have manufactured hundreds of 00-SF turnouts and sold them to very satisfied customers. They weren't actually called "00-SF" at the time, I just called them "00 extra fine". Some were on plain copper-clad timbering. Some were on my milled copper-laminate timbers with raised chairing effect. They all worked just fine as advertised. What follows is my best recollection of events more than 30 years ago. After all this time I confess my memory is much less than perfect, so if anyone reading this knows different, please do say. I have also posted a thread in the Nottingham Area Group forum in the S4 forum- so that tells you that the gauge is P4! My track building approach is "unconventional" but has been developed to maximise the benefits of "modern technology" such as functional plastic chairs, Templot templates etc. I have also tried plenty of other ways of doing the job and all have upsides and downsides so I would say that I have adopted my approach in the knowledge of, rather than out of ignorance of Other Ways! But please don't anyone suggest using tubular rivets- I have knocked up several thousand of them and can see no need ever to use another one- ever! I built a Test Track to "prove ...

However, time has passed and I have forgotten all then I learned of TEMPLOT. I have 2 drawings. One is a template of a standard turnout. This is a continental 750mm gauge track with a 1:7 Frog. The other drawing is a single line drawing of the station which appears to be to in the proper perspective horizontal and vertical when I drop onto Google Earth. I believe I need to approach this systematically. 1) Create a new Custom Gauge, 2) Create a standard template for turnout and track geometry and timbering, 2) Record this new template as a library, 3) Import the station track plan background into a new box, 4) Create full track template, print and build. ... topic: 978 Servos for Turnouts posted: 22 Nov 2009 15:17 from: Stephen Freeman I am now convinced of the advantages of using servos to operate turnouts (and signals for that matter) and have attached one to an 00 turnout, this is fastened by means of a nut and bolt to a piece of pcb, which in turn is soldered to the underneath of a pcb timber, which in turn is soldered to the rail via brass rivets. I have removed the first timber for clarity. Picture attached. 142_221037_590000000.jpg There are also a couple of short Youtube videos on my website if anybody would like to take a look. ... topic: 2129 Go slow on a Mac posted: 28 Dec 2012 16:40 from: Simon Dunkley Have had occasional problems with Templot running on a Mac via Crossover, in that some activities cause Templot to proceed very, very slowly, and occasionally just sit there and hang. Anyway, all I am trying to do at the moment is specify a new custom rail length and sleeper spacing, and if I can get to the spacing from the first sleeper to the second sleeper, I am doing well. The data entry window is active, and indeed is sitting in front of everything else and completely immoveable. Earlier I managed this, but when trying to alter the sleeper width to something non-standard, the session just hung on me, and I had to force quit it. ... topic: 2669 Brunel blues, 7mm broad gauge problems posted: 5 Apr 2015 09:59 from: keithj15 Fellow club members have started an O gauge Broad Gauge project, and asked me to draw up their track plan. Having gathered together all the track stats from the Broad Gauge Society, and created a custom gauge, all looked good until I tried to create a regular crossover. I then found the turnouts overlap and the all important V's don't generate on the template. I have tried all the variations of the turnout geometry, but have concluded that there must be some simple parameter that I have missed — possibly in the custom template dialogues, and this screws up the correct creation of the regular crossing — and maybe other configurations of turnout and crossing templates yet to be encountered. Can anyone help point out what I am missing? ... topic: 3746 Motorizing those pesky points. posted: 20 Aug 2020 04:45 from: Andrew Barrowman I don't know about you but I'm genetically programmed to spend as little as possible on anything, model railways included, and particularly anything to do with setting the direction of points (turnouts if you prefer). My target is to keep it down to less than $3.00 (call it 2.00 GBP) for each point. That pretty much rules out just about every commercially available option. Sure, servos are cheap, but you can spend lots of money on fancy electronic servo controllers that don't even work all that well and end up spending far more than that. Absent a freely available supply of ex Post Office relays (as previously used by Martin) an alternative is the cheap and cheerful SG90 radio-control servo. Considering how good they are they are incredibly inexpensive. (But they do have a couple of issues which this does address.) Why don't you highlight the existence of the Index with links at least as conspicuous as those for the searches? 2. When you provide the answer to a question with which you are completely satisfied, the answer that is or even if you see one you like in the daily message files from another member.
