Thinking it might be some transient problem affecting all programs, I decided to do a test print from the Acrobat reader after the problem manifested itself in Templot. Thought I had managed to specify printing of a single page, but obviously didn't and as a result ended up with a printout of the whole of the report on the Paragon accident! Anyway, that seems to confirm that other software is finding the networked printers without difficulty. Sadly, restarting Templot doesn't cure the problem, as it still seems unable to find any printer drivers- not even the virtual printer driver used to 'print' i.e. create a pdf document file. I'll bear in mind direct USB connection as a possible solution of last resort, but as yet haven't found the energy to lug the printer across the room for this purpose. ...

I've just been inspired to restart the S4n2 layout I started about 16 years ago then scrapped during a house move, although I kept the pointwork. The fact that the seed has remained there all this time has to be a good sign! The re-worked output elements options will do nicely, thank you. Yes, timber numbering is untidy on the track plan printout, and platforms are unnecessary on build templates, so that does make it much easier to switch around. I see now that it is just the warning message that can be supressed on subsequent sessions- sensible given my original remit for pretty printouts. So the question now is can you save the selected printer and calibration file into the .sk1 file to remove the need to step through each of these on every Templot session? If it is a lot of work or not possible please ignore the request. ... from the longer O and S scale fret? Did you put glue under the rail or just rely on the spikes to hold it. What did you do when building turnouts? Rob, There's actually a bit more of a story about the track. When I first showed the picture above on another forum I was taken to task about the lack of railplates. So I CNC machined railplates from Plastikard to go under the rail and the track then looked like this. 25_101855_120000000.jpg To lay pointwork I laid the timbers on a Templot printout then positioned every fifth or so railplate on the timbers and stuck them down with Butanone. The rails were then spiked through these railplates and checked for gauge. When all looked well, the other railplates were inserted and glued and the spike holes were drilled and the spikes inserted. Here's a turnout partially constructed. 25_101859_200000000.jpg There's also a difference to UK practice since I'm using self-guarding "frogs", so no check rails. However, I did have to lay my diamond crossing and a tandem turnout with standard crossings ...
