... if the V crossing angle is greater than 1:8. I am using Templot Dev 2.05.b. OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit on AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile TL-60 processor. Gauge is set to EM 18.2mm. I created a new template, REA B-8 Left hand turnout 10 Chains Radius. I then changed the V Crossing angle to 1:9. I then did tools> make simple crossover. Then template> convert turnout to half-diamond. The check rails and gap that should be produced at the point where the two half diamonds would meet are not generated. In the attached box file the two lower sets of track are from a 1:9 regular and generic turnout and have not produced the check rails, whereas the top one is 1:8 and has. 32_151949_370000000.png Attachment: attach_1446_1960_DiamondCrossings .box 301 Last edited on 16 May 2012 00:53 by Andrew Fendick posted: 16 May 2012 01:00 from: Martin Wynne Hi Andrew, Fixed K-crossings are not prototypically correct at angles flatter than ...

I have tried to follow Martin's video but it is linking two turnout templates. Do I have to make both templates turnouts to link them and then make them plain track again after having done so? So far I have made one of the templates a turnout and split off the approach road, but I am not clear on how to make this a dummy template as described. Then you are required to make a branch line from the other template. However, I think I would have to make this a turnout template as well. Could anybody clarify this for me. You will find it in the same folder as the BGS file. I normally recommend that beginners don't try to work over a scanned plan until they have learned the basics of Templot. It is actually quite tricky to get an exact match to a plan produced by other means, if you are not sure of all the options in Templot. This page may help: http://templot.com/companion/index.html?swell_function_ctrl_f10.htm As Tony explained, that length of track will need to be at least two templates. For the yellow template, I left the spacing at the pre-set 44.67mm and created double track. For the purple template so created, I then applied geometry> slew (nudge) and in new slew settings I set the slew amount to 16mm. Now the slewing zone length and position needs adjusting (by mouse action is easiest) to produce a more gradual change. In curved track such as this, for the greatest accuracy at the join the slewing zone should end at the template boundary. It may be worth moving the boundary or splitting templates to achieve this (not necessary in straight track). If the length of the template is appropriate the slewing zone can be quickly set to match the full length, using geometry> slew (nudge)> change slewing zone length> match length to template menu item. Here's the result of that on this example ...

The minimum that could possibly fit is 1325 inches radius, which would be effectively tangential with the stock rail and non-prototypical in the sense that the blade tip would be so thin and slender it would be damaged by the first wheel to run over it. Assuming you wish to retain the 136 inches lead and 7 inches offset, I suggest a radius of 3 chains or 2376 inches full size. At 1:48 scale that scales to 49.5" radius in the model, and produces a good result for 1:6 and 1:7 turnouts at 16.5mm gauge. Alternatively for a smaller radius you need a shorter switch, i.e. reducing the 136 inches dimension. For a short curved switch, aim for a deflection angle at the tip of around 1:40 to 1:50. regards, Martin. posted: 27 Aug 2014 12:52 from: keithj15 Hi Martin I tried to work out the dimensions from info from Peco and by measuring the print of their ref sheet I downloaded. ...

Maximise and Minimise work fine, the only issue being that on restore from Minimise the player loses focus and needs to be clicked on before the spacebar will work. On the other hand, any attempt to use the Full Screen option produces strange results, maximised or otherwise. The menu bar disappears entirely (losing the much needed Jump To contents list), the slider toolbar disappears and reappears seemingly at random, and the video frames repeatedly re-size themselves. My guess is a muddle between the size of the client area of the window and the full size window over the borders. The file 'Layout templates 19 Feb.bgs' in the file; http://perso.orange.fr/brian.tuckey/Templot files.zip is therefore only a guide. At the bottom of the diagram you can see the junction layout that precipitated this thread and I overlaid track as can be seen from the file; 'New Layout_07_07_09_0155_32.box'. However, after my initial posting I calculated that the space between the junction and where the terminal track passes over the mainline would produce an unacceptable gradient. I model in P4 so no traction tyres! I therefore produced a second design as can be seen in 'New Layout rev2_07_07_09_1753_51.box'. I believe that this is more accommodating and provides the height/gradient profile required. I am modelling OHLE so a larger than normal height clearance is necessary. To the left of the junction you can see the return curve which was the topic of an earlier question. Thanks for your help and all suggestions/criticisms are welcome. Cheers, Brian posted: 15 Aug ...

... 24 from: Trevor Schofield It would be really good if it were possible to make a curved crossing by just overlaying two pieces of plain track at the required angle and then pressing a function button to convert them to a crossing. I've been finding that in making half crossings and converting them to full crossings that the "entry angle" is different from the "exit angle" and so has to be adjused. When the angle of crossing is getting towards 1:2.5 or so, then the curves do not match to produce a smooth passage through the crossing.
