... where specifically you are looking at sizing.... Regards, Rodney Hills Oh yes, I thought I had- It's the Deansgate (Knott Mill) area of Manchester. The planning portal was getting then until I clicked too quickly and it "went a bit strange". I'll persist with it. Thanks for the link. Richard. posted: 18 Feb 2009 23:37 from: Bill_Lobb Sorry to crash this thread, but I am a bit puzzled by an OS map, so the title fits. I recently bought a download of the 1903 6" OS map of Talyllyn Junction in Powys. The track plan it shows is different from any other I have seen. This is the earliest I have seen, so I can see that it might be different, but on this map a train from Brecon to Merthyr would have to run wrong line through the station. ... bullet and top up the black ink in the Inkjet. Russell posted: 1 Mar 2009 14:07 from: Martin Wynne Hi Russell, A wrong printer calibration won't produce gaps between the pages -- everything would still fit together properly, but the track sizes would be wrong. As Brian has suggested, I think your problem is the printer. Laser printers heat the paper, causing it to shrink and distort slightly. For best results it is better to use an inkjet printer instead. Unfortunately, looking in computer stores recently I see that laser printers seem to be gaining in popularity over inkjets. A possible solution is to make sure the paper is bone dry before use, for example by storing it near a radiator or in an airing cupboard. You could even try heating it before use, although it may distort afterwards as it returns to room conditions. Also, using thicker paper seems to help. I always print templates on 160gsm paper, which is almost a thin card. Apart from being more stable the trimmed pages are thick enough ...

In addition any output can be in "diagram mode" or the existing "template mode". Diagram mode is a simplified output suitable for published track plans, signal box diagrams, control panels, and similar. None of these functions is yet finished, but I have made significant progress in recent weeks. Templot Sketchbook is new separate function within Templot -- almost a separate program in its own right. It's a mini desktop-publishing/drawing package, which will allow the creation of colourful layout plans, control panels and diagrams directly within Templot. Previously it was necessary to export a DXF file and do this sort of thing in a separate CAD program. This was being talked about seriously by people that I would have thought would know better. I can state categorically that I have never used coreldraw to control my laser cutter. I have had a Universal Laser System (same brand I believe as Brian Lewis has) for nearly 3 years and it has always been linked to my CAD programme, Rhinoceros. Mike, Sorry for the delayed response, I'm only recently trolling through my mail. Wow- as one of the peaople engaged in that discussion, I'm pretty astounded at this. Perhaps it was the combatative tone Brian had (yes, he does that sometimes, but generally the conversations on there end up being really productive). I do not think anyone said that the cutter would *only* work with Corel, however it remains a fact that a number of Laser Manufacturers (including Epilog which is the one I am most familiar with) recommend the use of CorelDraw, ...

The possibility of getting it ported to other platforms wasn't uppermost in my mind, although of course it all helps to keep it alive if a future version of Windows takes objection to it. Not all of it could be open-sourced because it includes some copyright components for which I purchased licences. Since making it open-source the road has been a bit rocky, and the level of interest lower than I expected. Most recently we had a diversion into Gits and Tortoises which left me utterly confused and not knowing which way to turn. I came to the conclusion that my way of working with code was so different from anything that could be called current industry-standard that no-one but me would ever be able to follow it or take it forward. Then you come along, and without mentioning a single Git or Tortoise you have understood it and got it working on a different platform. You probably don't realise how much that means to ...

Hi Gordon, I'm surprised you have only just noticed that. All the diagonal lines will be affected. It's inevitable if you change the aspect ratio after creating the plan, as I think you are doing on the sketchboard. I'm sorry I have rather lost track(!) of what you are actually doing now. However, if you look at my most recent post, you will see that the diagonal lines are the same width as the horizontal lines. That's because they are being drawn after distorting the aspect ratio in the data. I wanted to get you round to doing that when you have a finalised plan. But it needs a video explanation of the several steps, which I will make shortly. Currently I'm working on a mod to the sketchboard so that it can more conveniently print actual size on A4, using the right-click menu: 2_091612_100000000.png That will enable you ...

I have selected different turnouts no problem, but when I try and insert it, the programme defaults back to a B7. Hi Gordon, It's not always a B7. It might be any size. Templates have a "memory" of the situation that was existing when they were created. The reason you get a B7 is that when that plain track template was created, the most recent size of turnout you had been working with was a B7. Or maybe you created it by copying from another plain track template for which that was the case. So you could perhaps call it a "B7 plain track template". But that would be a bit confusing, bearing in mind that it would look identical to an "A5 plain track template".
