... . Whatever our answer, we owe him the courtesy of a response. Glen Do remember that each time you visit this thread it counts that as a view. I've visited this thread now probably getting on for 15-20 times. So it's easy to see why viewing numbers get so high but responses so few. I can scarce believe that this could be said seriously. Like it or not, Windows is an accepted and easily understood standard world-wide. Surely the fact that Templot operates so differently to Windows is the core reason why folk find it so hard to master? I think I will go ahead and make this change anyway. So much for the poll.... Then why ask us in the first place? What Templot has always needed as a priority is less tinkering and some proper Help documentation. Regards Brian Lewis posted ...

... transferred to the pony truck. Cheers! Andy There was the well documented case of the GWR/ LNER exchange trials pitting Castles against the A1 pacifics, around 1925. One morning, the LNER upper echelons gathered at King's Cross to watch a Castle attempt to haul an express out of the station and up the bank, a notorious task which even Gresley's pacific had big trouble with. Cue much joking as to the eventual outcome amongst watchers. Then silence as Collett's masterpiece glided out of the station and disappeared up the bank with scarcely a hitch! Re 4-4 -0s, here's a snap of a Dukedog 4-4 -0 chassis I built: 528_102003_380000000.jpg It has twin compensation beams on the drivers, and for the bogie a single centre bolt which passes through a slot in the bogie; a nut on the bolt controls the height of the chasses front. Although the bolt can slide in the slot, the friction between nut and bogie helps guide the front around curves. Nigel posted: 11 Oct 2019 03:15 from: Matt ...

Generator- generator settings -- I uncheck, (one at a time- why not a pop-up that allows me to so do in one operation)? Two reaons. It's significantly more programming work to create a dialog panel than a menu structure. And for Windows 95/98/ME it uses significantly more of the scarce Windows resources. Templot already hogs the lion's share of those on a Windows 95/98/ME system, and using even more risks having the computer lock up. track centre lines, radial end marks, outline extension marks, timber centre lines, timber infill, 8'6" marks on 9' sleepers, guide marks. This leaves me with an uncluttered template/templates that I feel is/are easier with which to work. (I really do not understand why these are opt outs- surely they should be ...

Instead see this newer one: topic 2768 18 months on from that, I still haven't updated all these old topics and videos. I'm very sorry about that. But are you sure you want a symmetrical turnout? Modellers love them, but they are really very scarce on the prototype. Ordinary turnouts with contraflexure are much more common, and easily done in Templot simply by setting a negative curving radius. Turnouts with contraflexure often have a curviform V-crossing (but not when part of a curved crossover). regards, Martin. posted: 7 Mar 2017 08:27 from: Raymond Dear Chris, The 'extra' timbers can be dealt with using 'Shove timbers'. Can I assume that Switch Diamonds were around during this period? I know Jim Guthrie recently asked a similar question but I was unsure of the outcome. Scott, I've since had some contact with other members of the Caledonian Railway Association and details of the pre-Grouping Scottish track are very scarce. The drawing of the NB turnout/diamond/slip seems to be the only drawing known to be available and other information seems to be being gleaned from photographs. Like you, I'm contemplating a slip with a large (in number) crossing although at 1:9 -ish, it's just about within the bounds of using "K" crossings if I do something like raising the central check rails to increase the checking at the "K" gaps. But from the information about the NER having switched diamond details ...

... an optically challenged( another failing personal service) regarding colours. To one of normal vision I am certain you can see no problem but to those of us with 'normal' colour indequacy in the most common red/green area (and I am nothing if not common) the red cones are feeble or insuficient, and lines and other finer detail in red that occur in diagrams (as in the present case) can be rendered barely discernable. I can just make out the wording to the lower dimension line for example but scarcely see the top line of letters. (my daughter comes to my aid at such an impass) I do not wish to give the impression that this is 'complaint' in any sense but hope that this thought may give pause before choosing red to be superimposed (i.e. on other than a white or grey/black background) as fine detail and print. Bill posted: 22 Aug 2010 16:27 from: Jonathan Wells Templot is a truly flexible application that will replicate almost any permutation of full size track practice and one really needs to understand the trackwork of the prototype one intends to model to get the best out of Templot. Railway modellers have any number of reference for locos, rolling stock, buildings etc but reference for trackwork is rather scarce by comparison. I've recently purchased a copy of GWR Switch and Crossing practice from the GWR Study Group and though I don't model GWR it is a very useful book which made the point that GWR practice was significantly different from the other Grouped companies which used REA turnouts. From that book, I reckon that using REA trackwork for layouts based between 1930 and 1980 is a safe bet until you have properly researched the trackwork of your prototype. Of course if I want to build Ashburton then the book I mentioned is perfect! ...

... Reading up on P4 suggested that 1000mm (~ 4ft) would need to be the minimum radius so more out of interest in Templot that anything else I bunged the 7mm plan into Templot and converted it to P4. It worked almost perfectly- only the single-slip, at 11ft by 12ft on the plan, needed anything more than tiny adjustments to length and/or curve. Half of the slip went over length and needed a bit of surgery to make it fit. Having fount that FB point components are a bit scarce on the ground I also converted everything to BH rail. The original was the area 'above' the 8ft line, and to the left of the 10ft line. Bearing in mind the 1000mm min radius I can indeed get a tail-chaser in, and with a branch line to boot that handily covers the weird track spacing on the right (result of the radius restriction). Happily, the in-scene double track rather to my surprise also gives clearance (according to the 'roll vehicle' tool)- so ...
