... Hopefully this time will be a bit more successful. There is almost nothing in it yet: http://templot.com/companion/ but please feel free to visit it to check progress at any time. There is just one topic so far: http://templot.com/companion/index.html?swell_function_ctrl_f10.htm updated for TDV only for the changed keyboard shortcut. regards, Martin. posted: 10 Oct 2011 09:13 from: Les G Hi Martin, That's the ticket The banner is a bit lurid; does it signify the occasional depression and the blood you have sweated over the years? You can hide it by dragging the panel borders. And I have now added Hide and Full Page buttons to do the same. Click the Normal View button (or press F5) to restore the normal page ...

... reload it next time. Your track gauge will be set automatically from the final template loaded. regards, Martin. posted: 20 Jan 2011 12:28 from: Nicholas Geti Ok. I am working with the Storage Box. I understand now how it works. I assume that the blue field showing the Control Template (the one that is displayed when the Gauge is choosen) will change if I change the Control Template? What does the lower case letter on the template information screen next to the right/left arrows signify? It changes as I click the arrows. Is that just a reference to a page number in the help file? Printing. I figured out how the printing function works. It would be nice if it remembered that the printer was calibrated. I see that "print screen contents" shows the template very small in the upper left corner of the printout. I did not understand this hint when I first tried to print. The O Gauge switch printout matches exactly the actual one that I built last week using the ...

... I think it makes sense to include the letter n in narrow-gauge designations to avoid confusion I beg to disagree. The "n" notation has commonly become a reference to prototype dimensions (albeit with a perverse mix of feet and inches) in a particular scale such as: Sn3, On2, On30, On3. Thus On14 would mean an O scale model of a 14" gauge railway- just like Gn15 is in 15" in G scale. Most UK narrow gauge modellers now use a prefix and number to signify scale with the gauge in millimetres such as OO9 or O14, O16.5, O21 etc. John Last edited on 16 Feb 2012 18:22 by John Clutterbuck posted: 16 Feb 2012 18:47 from: Martin Wynne John Clutterbuck wrote: have you ever considered a customisable text (INI or XML) file so user's can have their own favourite gauges on tap, rather than a long list 95% of which users never use. ... until now I did not notice the small mark near the blade tips. I pivoted the blade on the mark closer to the frog/vee. Of course at times I get a quite long moving blade. Prototypically they look OK for me, as I'm trying to simulate simple trackwork as used by the Colonel Stephens.... what is the mark closer to the blade tips- should that be the pivot point? (giving me shorter moving blades?) In which case what does the one closer to the vee signify? Any comments or illumination tracking or pointing me in the right direction would be most helpful Thank you Robert posted: 14 Sep 2008 21:34 from: Martin Wynne Robert Kosmider wrote: When one prints up a template there are little cross marks/ dashes across each point blade. Howard posted: 22 Dec 2008 21:41 from: Martin Wynne Howard wrote: "tools| Spacing Ring" should be "tools| Spacing Ring..." as it opens a new window. Hi Howard, I use the ellipsis (three dots) in Templot to signify that user keyboard input will be required. It's also a good indication on the menus of where to find help information about something, because the data-entry dialog often has both F1 general help, and F2 help texts on each line. For the spacing-ring function, user input is optional -- I'm not sure that simply opening a new window is sufficient reason for an ellipsis. But I'd be the first to admit that I haven't been very consistent about this, in fact tidying up all the menus and ...

... , Martin. Attachment: attach_810_948_ole_masts_at_240ft .box 266 posted: 22 Jun 2010 18:59 from: Alan McMillan Hi I've built OHLE on a couple of layouts now and am planning more on a third. I've developed the following method for placing the masts and setting out the wiring pattern. I push ordinary dressmakers pins into the track between the rails at all the important places (toe ends of turnouts, ends of sidings etc) and then string white thread between them, placing further pins at the appropriate points on the layout to signify mast positions between those earlier fixed positions. The pins and thread can be adjusted to give the correct amount of contact wire stagger at each mast position and span midpoints. The threads at mast and portal positions can then be used to create drawn templates for the construction of the wiring supports. Alan McMillan posted: 23 Jun 2010 08:10 from: Jamie92208 Thanks for those replies Martin and Alan. I'd forgotten about bonus timbers but will use them. Fortunately my OLE is all portal's so I can use long timbers that ...
