... are quite hard and they might do better. I bought a Deltang transmitter and receiver well over a year ago but I have yet to build it. Any day now! I'm considering a sort of hybrid approach. RC with batteries (possibly non-rechargeable) running on energized track but with non-energized turnouts. The receiver will only draw power from the battery while traversing turnouts. It should be possible to recharge a battery from "live" track but good charger circuits are fairly complex. On the other hand it's simple to bypass the battery when track power is available. I'll post pics of the diamond when it's complete. Cheers, Andy posted: 16 Dec 2019 08:42 from: Martin Wynne Andrew Barrowman wrote: Yes, FB rail. Not sure how it will be attached yet. What if a small dialog popped up after changes like this are made saying something like: "This change will be reflected in all templates created from now on. Would you like this change to be made to all existing background templates (not library or inactive templates) in this Storage Box? [YES] [NO]". Just a thought. I will have a think about adding an extra alert when the modify on rebuild option is available. It's not simple because not all possible changes would be applicable to all templates. It risks causing more confusion than it cures if you ask the user about check rail settings (say) when all the background templates are plain track. Btw, I built my first custom turnout designed in Templot2 over the weekend and had a ball doing it. It looks and works great. Thanks for making that possible. That's great. ... find that the sharp bend is a good indication of where the centre of the curve should be. Hi Paul, Julian, The rule of thumb is that the radius in feet matches the crossing angle. So a 1:7 K-crossing has the rails bent at 7ft radius. Likewise for the knuckle gaps in V-crossings. You need to check the nose of your pliers! The reason Templot doesn't show the bend radius for K-crossings is that I haven't got round to it yet. It's not as simple as it looks because of course a K-crossing is composed of two separate templates. It's not so very long ago that I introduced the proper knuckle bends showing on the V-crossings. Previously, and right from the start of Templot, I assumed users knew enough about track to know what they were doing and use the templates as a construction guide, not an actual drawing of a turnout, and make a proper radiused knuckle. The sharp bend mark was intended as an aid to locating the centre of the ...

Here it is choosing the wrong one (the blanked off middle V-crossing template). F7 snapping is really intended only for simple beginner trackplans. To do what you want, click on the first turnout in the tandem, and then peg/align tools> snap the control template onto background template> at CTRL-0 datum menu item. Alternatively you could extend some approach track (F3) on the first turnout and then split it off as a separate template.
