... to know it is working. Well I did rush a bit, but not specifically because of this. There were some loose ends in the tandems which I wanted to clear up before anyone tripped over them. Also Richard's CSV file. But unless 218c falls over is some way, I really must now leave coding for a while and get on with the docs. I did want to include Godrey's rotated background shapes too, but I have left them until next time. On the face of it, it should be a simple thing. But in practice it is a minefield. Everything already gets rotated 90 degrees between the screen and the printed output of course. cheers, Martin. posted: 21 Jan 2018 21:53 from: JFS I am feeling better now! I have tried looking at the link above but it seems to think I am looking on an Android 'phone and won't let me see anything. The odd template 'trick' was using a 9ft straight switch with a 1:24 vee to give me my line to make a jig for setting the set. Something simple but very helpful and far more accurate (and quicker) than drawing it with a ruler. Likewise a similar simple trick of printing just the closure rail, wing and making the wing rail long (with no taper) as a better guide for bending the knuckle; I bet there's dozens of similar things that can be done like that- and unless one is lucky enough to stumble across it in a discussion... Short questions: eg where is the bit that does that? and short answers: either a link to where it is at, or a couple of sentences pointing at which level of which menu. Just where and when and under what conditions, without getting in the way of users with just a couple of templates to print, needs some thought. In addition it would be possible to record for every template which file (if any) it was loaded from, which file (if any) it was last saved to, the revision number in force when it was loaded and when it was saved, and the price of kippers at the time. Recording the information is simple. How to make it available conveniently when wanted needs much more thought. For example printing a file name alongside every template would obviously obscure too much detail. It might be better to print a reference number which could be looked up on an index list. Ideally any text on the printed templates needs to be rotated to lie along the direction of the track, rather than across the track as above. Unfortunately text rotation is not supported on all printers and PDF readers (which is why the timber numbers are not rotated ...

... topic: 1420 Comparison of N and 2mm Fine Scale gauges printout posted: 15 Mar 2011 12:07 from: kenbec I have decided to use code 40 track but haven't yet decided whether to use the N or 2mmFS gauge width for the standard track. As a test to allow me to create test straight track in both gauges I created a simple 500mm length drawing in N for UK gauge and printed it. I then changed to 2mmFS gauge using the gauge/scale selector and printed it. In both cases the Information Panel showed the correct gauge of 9mm and 9.42mm respectively. The printouts were identical. Does this mean that changing the gauge is not possible after a track template has been created? I thought from other reading that a change as simple as this was possible. Is the only way I can get a printout of a 2mm 9.42mm gauge straight by creating it as an original? This is not a problem with the turnouts I have designed as I intend to still use the 9mm standard in their case. Regards, ken PS ...

I don't know what the current situation is but this used to be called a "keeperage charge"- or something like that. As I understand it this would be a one-off charge for material that was going to be used in any commercial way rather than just for personal use. So- to put it simple- personal use would incur the cost of photocopy while commercial use would incur the photocopy cost plus an agreed (reasonable) charge. My own interpretation of this was that I would not mind paying an archive a reasonable charge.
