... file for a piece of track to test my new "super-detailed" chairs. Unfortunately there is so much detail in the chairs that the file was enormous and Shapeways couldn't handle it. I will have to make them a bit less detailed. I think it's mainly caused by all the fillets. They do make the rendering look very pretty but they are probably invisible when printed at 1:76 anyway, so off they come. Regards, ab posted: 1 Aug 2017 03:06 from: Andrew Barrowman I simplified the three bolt chairs and ordered samples in both sintered nylon and FUD (Frosted Ultra Detail) for comparison. Yes- Lazarus has no drive box (and for the usual cross-platform reasons- only Windows has the concept of drives) so you are going to have to create one of those too. Alternatively, how about putting the top level folders AND the drives as levels in that one box- such as Windows does (or did). Before you go too much further, if you can generate a complete model we can easily find out file size etc. Obviously a lot of the detail you are adding won't be visible at small scales but it will be visible in the larger scales. Striking a reasonable compromise might take a bit of testing. I think it might be possible to use Meshlab to simplify/reduce facets on a model. That might allow you to put lots of detail into your models and use Meshlab to post process the file according to the scale, but I'm probably talking rubbish. Every time I try to use Meshlab it gives me a sore head Cheers, Andy posted: 24 Nov 2018 19:31 from: Martin Wynne Andrew Barrowman wrote: Hi Martin, I'm assuming we'll be able to randomize the rotation of the screw heads. ... Cut Templates posted: 23 Nov 2009 14:47 from: Donald MacLean I have seen posts on the forum regarding availability of laser cut sleeper configurations for complex track sections. (C& L) My (convoluted) question is this. As 'printed' templates can be developed showing only inner stockrail faces and crossing vees, is it possible to derive CAD-type (DXF?) machine readable outputs of specific point formations so that 'physical' templates could be cut out of wood or plastic of appropriate thickness? This would simplify the accurate fixing of the outer rails and crossing. I realize that this would only benefit those who are content with using a sub-set of 'standard' templates. In my case straight B-6s, and curved B-8s. But as I will need about thirty sets of points on my 'new-and-improved' layout it would appear a cost effective way of proceeding. How about a wizard or dragable box that lets you set the start point and end point of a transition curve then does the rest automatically. Several months work at least. I purchased an XML component with the hope that it would simplify the task, but so far "simplify" isn't the word which comes to mind. Personally speaking, I have no idea why it's so important to some users. I have been using Templot in its present form for over 10 years now without feeling any great need to save preferences.
