... incide with the saved filename. Unfortunately I keep pressing the Print button before remembering to rename the project and/or resave the file so I finish up with printouts that don't have a file with the same name that I can refer back to. Do you have any tips to help me remember? Hi Peter, Hmm. Templot doesn't use the Windows document model. That means that Templot doesn't know anything about a filename when you are printing. You can load templates from as many different .box files as you wish into the storage box (and hence onto the pad). And you can choose which of them and how many to save to a .box file at any time. That means that there is never a filename representing the current storage box contents or pad drawing. A printed page could contain all or part of several different templates which have been loaded from or saved to several different files. All this means that if you look at a template page which was printed some time ago, it can be quite difficult to know immediately which .box ...

... from the start, but was benign in the old generator up to 091c. The changes for irregular diamonds exposed it. Also I have noticed that when I print a diamond with a slip road that the tips of the switch blades are not marked whereas turnout ones are. The marks are underneath the timber. To correct it, and for the neatest result when using partial templates, always have the switch as the higher template number so that it gets generated after the underlying template. You can rearrange the template order in the storage box, or simply delete the switch to the control and then store it again. You can see and test the difference by swapping to the sketchboard in detail mode. regards, Martin. posted: 14 Dec 2011 23:42 from: Tony W Martin Wynne wrote: The marks are underneath the timber. The loco shed is located on the branch line so many light engine movements will take place along this route. The Goods lines are designed for local use and also for marshalling traffic to/from the branch. The branch being the source of much traffic e.g. coal, farming equipment, livestock etc. These three baseboards feed onto existing railway track. The main lines feed into storage sidings and a return loop. This is approx 24 ft long. The branch line has an intermediate station and feeds into another terminus with the engine shed etc. The branch being a folded 48 foot route located over the storage sidings. 2184_201501_570000000.jpg I have not yet converted the diamond crossings into slips but this will be done later when I am satisfied that this is going to be the final design. I must admit I get confused when creating templates which is why I use Re-store& background when I have created the initial one. What is the correct way of storing templates? Hi Tom, When you have made your adjustments to the control template display (called "current" template prior to 091b), assuming you intend to keep the design you must store the template specification in the storage box. The usual way to do that is using store& background (which has the shortcut CTRL-V). The& background part means that in addition to storing the specification, a copy of the template is placed on the pad background -- usually as part of your developing track plan. You can see it happen because the control template is temporarily hidden, so that you can see the copy of it in different colours underneath. To be safe you can always make a short section of track at minimum radius as a test track to see if it works ok (please let us know how you get on). 4. Personally I favour using 16.2mm gauge throughout, and not just for the turnouts. Please can you click the info button on the storage box for this template and tell me the initial and final radius, and the length of the transition section? ... Martin Once again, this probably isn't a flaw but a feature!! At the moment I'm building track and often want to print just one or two pages with specific background templates. The process is:- open Templot, load the box file (and possibly shapes as well) from recent files. I then do the print setup, load an existing calibration file, maybe move the page origin and print the background template I want. When I close Templot, I'm given the warning that one or more templates in the storage box have not been saved in a named data file. Except I haven't changed any templates, not even the control! It seems to be the act of bringing up the print dialogue that does this, as I get the same message if I then cancel printing and close Templot. So, is this a flaw or something for which I've entirely missed the purpose? Cheers, Paul posted: 24 Sep 2020 22:35 from: Martin Wynne Paul Boyd wrote: Once again, this probably isn't a flaw but a ...
