... set my favorite gauge (1 /160 to FS 160 standards) with US standard sleeper size and spacing as the default? Hi David, Welcome to Templot Club. You can't change the actual defaults in Templot, left to itself it always starts up set for REA bullhead pointwork in the fictional T-55 gauge. Instead, the general idea is to store your custom settings in a library template -- program> store as library template menu item. Then load (or add) the .box file containing it to your storage box whenever you want to use those settings. You then copy the library template to the control template, and off you go. You could have several different library templates in the file, with a range of different settings. For example you might have different rail lengths/ sleeper spacings for running lines and sidings. If you call your file start.box, it will be loaded automatically on start-up. This way of working allows you to create an infinite variety of custom settings, and choose whichever you want at any ...

I didn't alter the carriage line and shunting neck clearances as these already provided more than the standard six foot. I've done some timber shoving which may or may not be to your taste. I've also provided a trap at the approach to the outer crossover, which I think is what you require. If, instead, you want to trap the 'oil terminal' points on the inside of the layout, the storage box includes a couple of single tongued traps in what I think are appropriate positions. First let me say, that I did realise that the background shapes appeared in the order that they appeared in the menu list (i.e. the order that they were loaded in), that is why I thought the re-load would place the item on top, so no surprise there. It was just a passing thought that you may be able to do something similar to that with the storage box, with the side arrows to move items up or down the list. No big deal though, now that I am aware of how to correct similar events. Regarding the colour, I thought the centre area of the signal box shown in workpad, had a green hue which is not present on my master or the item that appears in sketchboard. Again this was really just a passing thought on my part and no reflection on workpad. Regarding using shape items from sketchboard, this is pure ignorance on my part ...

... achieve with your layout. It is a little difficult to make comment on a layout design without having some idea of the builders aims; I have no idea where you are on your personal model railway journey. You mentioned the LNWR, 30' coaches and a traverser. To some that may indicate a layout theme based on the LNWR in pre-grouping times or perhaps branch line operation in post grouping (LMS) days, when those carriages would still have been in revenue service. The use of a traverser indicates perhaps storage for a number of trains with which you may seek to operate a prototypical sequence of trains on your model railway. Are you seeking to achieve some sort of prototypical operation? A little more information would probably elicit and greater and more interesting response from the group. On YPM I'm NOT intending to include the station building or overall roof as I can reuse them on the new YPM. This is an urgent disposal as we need the space for the business as we're having to move out of our warehouse at the end of the month and use our home to store some of stock for the business until I can find an affordable storage solution. The problem is of course that it is not at all clear what Cut, Copy and Paste functions would actually do in Templot. If it was, I would have implemented them already. At present I'm minded to do this: Copy= same as save group, but to a hidden temporary file. Cut= ditto, then delete group. Paste= same as add from file, from the hidden file and using the storage box option to form a new group, then pad view fit group. The user can then use the mouse actions to shift and rotate the new group to a new position, or use the notch linking functions to position it. A group can of course consist of a single template, or the entire track plan. Using a hidden file allows the copy to survive across sessions or multiple instances of Templot. The problem is template TR3822, no. 231 in the storage box. You have hit a known issue, where the transition curve is too "gentle", i.e. the change in radius is too small over a transition zone too long. This causes the transition calculations to exceed the maths capabilities of the computer processor. Templot tries to catch this condition, but isn't very good at it. When I have tried to make it more secure, it restricts the usable functionality by too much. Usually it displays as a shattered glass effect, see: topic 1391 The effect on ...

All the baseboards were finished last year based on the 'finalised' layout but the detailed finishing-off by refining alignments, adjusting check rails& timbering etc, plus of course some tinkering about with it have only just managed to be completed. Congratulations to Martin for such a brilliant program. The layout is completely freelance. It consists of a main station, a single line branch and an 8 train turntable for the storage sidings element. Maximum train length of six carriages plus loco. I have two fully interlocked signal frames for controlling the points& signals, one for the station the other for the branch, on order from Modratec. Huge credit to Harold of Modratec for the design of these using their SigScribe program. Have you considered a reappraisal of these two areas? I have considered changing it to "remove" but the meaning would be exactly the same of course. In fact "delete" to the control is the correct word, because that is exactly what you are doing -- deleting the template from the storage box, files and backups. If you forget to store it again you can always get back to it using undo/re-do changes repeatedly, and then store it. Alternatively those who feel nervous about remembering to store it again can use "wipe to the control" instead which leaves an unused copy in the storage box. This tends to accumulate a lot of unused templates in the box, although they are harmless and easily removed later all in one go via the box menu on the storage box. regards ...
