... Martin. There is another way that I have discovered that this happens. If you have a Template which you use the tools to split or make double track, crossovers etc. then click the undo button to get back the original to alter it and repeat the process, the half of the template that is stored remains a visible background template on the trackpad each time. I have never considered this to be a flaw but is a mechanism that produces such a result, easily cured by removing the unwanted background templates in the storage box once you are sure they are not wanted. There is still some tidying up to do, i.e. linking in your existing track work, but will leave that to you to do. I have not removed any of your original templates form the box file, just simply added those I have generated to achieve the slip, so again there may be some tidying up in the storage box for you to do. To make that happen, re-order the templates so that the half-diamond templates are above the switch templates in the storage box (i.e. have lower list numbers on the left): 2_310713_080000000.png Use the brown up/down arrows to move the templates with a D prefix above the templates with a S prefix. See: 2_051958_200000000.png Any background templates which are entirely outside the boundary rectangle are not shown on the trackpad. This is intended to speed up screen response when you are working on a small part of a large track plan. More explanation of that here: topic 3207 p.s. your post reads a bit oddly. I know the working of the storage box is a mystery to many, despite my several attempts to explain it over the years. I wrote another explanation recently, here: http://templot.com/companion/basic_working_methods.php wipe is used only when you want to leave an unused copy of the template in the storage box. For possible re-use later, or if you just want to make some trial changes to it, which you can easily revert. It is not used very often. cheers, Martin. posted: 16 Jul 2019 11: ...

When you have finished working on the half-diamonds, use the brown buttons on the storage box to move them to the top of the list, or at least above the corresponding slip switches: 2_081740_420000000.png That way the slip switches will overwrite them in the output for a neater result, with the rail edges properly shown for the switch blades and the set in the stock rail matching the marker. This is a quick fix, to avoid the need otherwise to split out the rails from the underlying template as partial templates. If you select all the slip half-diamonds as a group, you can move them ...

Martin, I haven't done any programming since I retired about seven years ago so I suspect I would have to go back to school again. I think we might also argue about semantics again (a regular feature of the Templot forum) but I would argue that what the Storage Box is looking at in Templot is a database- i.e. a list of records of each template with all the data associated with the templates whicn is designed to suit the particular requirements of Templot. Even easier is to use the do> parking bay> functions which are specifically intended as temporary storage for the current control template in case you need to get it back. The parked templates are not saved in any files, so there is no need to go back and delete them before quitting the Templot session.
