... Andrew Duncan [Edit] Well this is my first experience of uploading a video on YouTube and in Templot. Another string to my bow! Having said that it's turned out a very narrow picture...? I've done a very rough conversion on this loco( no rebuilt chassis I'm afraid) by just putting washers in the space created by the wider gauge but with its outside frames the narrow chassis isn't too obvious. I haven't finished the job as it's missing it's brake gear and lost a front sanding pipe in the struggle to push the back to back out to 16.5mm so that needs restoring as well. As I said before, Templot is not intuitive to use and needs effort from the user to get the best from it. That's hard to do when users can't find up to date instructions on how to do things. I wonder what percentage of Templot users use this forum? I bet it's very low. I suspect that what might happen, especially as it's now free, is that people will download it, struggle, then complain on other forums that Templot is rubbish. I have been trying to come up with a way of providing a connection from the Yard arr/dep and Up Goods, to the Goods Yard (centre) that will work and be reasonably prototypical, but im struggling? Any ideas?. This is only going to be 4 or 6 wheeled steam tanks/diesel and 4 wheel stock, so the sharpness of the current curve should be ok. c) The pointwork for the goods marshalling sidings (centre right) seems quite spread out, can anyone suggest any way of tightening it up? all comments/thoughts welcomed. I have downloaded the video on the creattion of a tandem but am struggling to achieve exactly the same behaviour as the video when it comes to the F5 resizing of the crossing angle. I have followed the video, set the angle crossing options to any angle Set the peg on FP Press F5 Right click and select Lock switch But, in the video the sizing appears to "swing" and resize just the crossing angle (as expected), but when I try, the switch length still resizes slowly affecting the crossing angle, as if the right-click setting Lock Switch is being ignored. I know it must be me doing something silly or forgetting to do something, but I have tried several times without success. I now have the required amount of LED's and controllers from DCC Concepts, so thought I'd make a start on creating the track plan. My first thought was to use Sketchboard, but once I started to enlarge the panel, the track edges became jagged. The final mimic panel is going to be something like 800mm long by 400mm deep. I can't say the exact size as it's going to be governed by the need to place LED's within the track lines. The bezels of the LED's are 7mm diameter. In total there will be at least 72 LED's on the panel showing the turnout detection of 36 turnouts. What is the best way of accomplishing this? Hi Tim, There are several ways of proceeding. Generally you need to shove some of the timbers, and/or roll in a shorter length of rail. For best results that usually means rolling in a full rail and then rolling a bit of it back out. I notice that you are using 45ft rails with 12" joint sleepers. So I'm guessing you are modelling pre-grouping practice? In which case you may prefer to swap the timbering style to ...

... from: John Clutterbuck Hi Martin, Thanks for your reply. Yes I can appreciate that licensed components do mean that Templot2 can't be opensourced in its current form. I was speculating if the lack of any collaboration is because it is not the main project, however it could equally be that there aren't enough people with the time, skills or inclination to participate. Templot is a wonderful piece of software, unequalled in its functionality and I would hate to see it disappear, however I know I am not alone in finding a struggle to use at times. When I do finally retire in a year or so I would be interested in contributing to development especially with regard to usability, but only if it were the main project- as you may recall I did build a UI wrapper for Templot a while back. I have over 40 years experience in delivering highly usable commercial software solutions some of which have been in use by 1000s for their daily work for over 20years.
