... sets in code 83 Micro Engineering stock rails inc delivery. His name is Andreas Jodie but insists on being called Jodie. I tried explaining to him that is rude in our view but that didn't make any difference. I gave him a $40 USD tip of which he only accepted $20 USD. Here are some pictures. Electrically only the frogs are isolated, I have not ran a train over them but with the multimeter it sure works well. He used double sided PC board, that would be how he got the polarity transferred to the crossings and wherever PCB's are not required; he used laser cut timber for the ties. The running characteristics of stock coaches is superb. The rest of the simple points I will be making myself and will use templot for the templates. I know sharing these images is kind of risky on this site! However this is worth knowing. Incidently, what is the length of USB cable that you are using? 3 metres is the maximum allowed, even though I have seen longer ones sold, they are not guaranteed to work unless they have a small bit of electronics in one end to boost the signal. Fitting the console might be an idea to temporarily get you going, so that you could use an sdcard to transfer the files. A bit of a pain doing that though, I found. You could purchase a separate USB card, which costs anything between 10- 30 pounds and probably the same in dollars. I hope you have a resolution soon, Andy. Because of the much steeper switch angles in a switch-diamond, such anchors would not be feasible. regards, Martin. There are strengthened switch diamonds that have a short sections of extra rail between the switch and stock rails which act much like switch anchors/heel blocks. The extra rails are attached to the switch rails at their fixed end and to the stock rails near to the toes of the switches, so transferring stress from one to the other and limiting the length of switch that can expand and contract as the temperature changes. Thermal movement being one of the more common causes of trouble with switch diamonds, and is why they are the most likely track item to get painted white. My plan from now on is to use this tape to build chunks of track at the workbench and then remove it from the template and transfer to the layout. Copydex or similar would then be used to fix it down. I was also thinking that you could use this tape to make the common crossings first using the upside down method on a reversed template with n/s or brass strips to keep the alignment. Maybe I will try that too soon. Rob Parts of Templot Club may not function unless you enable JavaScript (also called Active Scripting) in your browser. ... tinkering with the above plan over the last day or so and have got the basics laid out, it's a case of a bit of timber shoving and a few re-alignments. I'll post a box file of it on here later to show you the rough copy. Most of it has been done using the "make mirror on peg" function, "adjust to length", "curve" and "size" for turnouts. In my case the original Frank Dyer plan(drawn in about 1978) would not transfer directly to templot as Frank used "train set" geometry for the pointwork and some would end up very short radius points. I think when I built the layout in 1979/1980 I used Kings Cross templates using 2' and 3' points to BRMSB standards. Frank used what is now 00sf for the branch line track and you know what, everything ran on it except Lima pizza cutter wheels!
