... affect the final result, but it can be very irritating if you are in the middle of a fine close-up adjustment. Note that such jumping doesn't happen for a custom switch, so an alternative to locking the switch is to use a custom switch on the template. Is this the case if you're zoomed in around the fine point, and the peg is on the FP? Won't the turnout size change towards the switch end? Which is roughly the case with the irregular diamonds. Also any chance of "lock transition" in the next version? Hi Gordon, That's the famous "matchsticks and broken glass" effect. It's a known effect. Your coloured tracks make it look even more dramatic! It is caused by the transition curve being too "gentle" for the maths capability of your processor. In other words the radius changes by too little in too long a transition length. If you look at the transition radii there you will see 2053- 2020mm radii -- a difference of less than 2%. When you get this effect you can be fairly sure that you are using a transition curve unnecessarily, and that a fixed radius curve would do just as well. Sometimes this effect flashes up while doing F6 on a transition curve template ...

You can create a transition between 2 separate elements of constant radius (straight being a constant infinite radius), then extend the ends of your new transition to the ends of your original elements. That may reduce 2 sections to 1. If you have 2 adjacent sections of the same radius which are for some reason split, then just extend one to the end of the other and delete the 'other'. ... at the same time, will this be a problem? I very much doubt that you are using the adjacent tracks function, which draws the adjacent rails as part of a single template (without any timbering). You can try it by clicking the generator> generator settings> adjacent tracks menu option: 2_041550_070000000.png This function is now hardly ever used. It was provided in the early days of Templot as a design aid, but other functions have made it largely redundant. It is sometimes useful when adjusting long S-curve transitions. Almost certainly your multiple tracks have been created using separate templates with timbering. These will be entirely unaffected by these changes, and you will be able to add a platform edge alongside them. regards, Martin. posted: 5 Jul 2010 01:08 from: kenbec Hello Martin, I thought I would start a topic where I can report occasionally about what I'm currently working on in Templot. I made the entirely arbitrary assumption that the left-most road is the main road, and that it is a common type 1 tandem (i.e. second switch in main road of first switch). The only way to match the rails as drawn is to put the whole thing on a transition S-curve, which seems a bit unlikely. I think it might be better to straighten it out and adjust the turnout on the right accordingly but that is up to you. Here's a quick stab at it on the S-curve. Just as an example one of the issues that reappears is the inability to create a transition between two templates that intersect when projected. Simpler programs such as XTrkCad are able to do this and allow the mouse to adjust for the "curve". If the branch track is to the left, then it's a LEFT-hand turnout in all circumstances. Otherwise the switch deflection would be in the wrong road with a corresponding speed restriction in the running line. If you want a change of radius in the main road within a single template, the way to do that would be to use a zero-length transition curve at the location of the change: geometry> transition curve> zero-length instant transition at peg.
