I keep getting the message <An image is too large for your graphics system>. I have a fairly modern Toshiba i5 laptop running Windows 7, 64 bit with an ATI Radeon premium graphics card. None of the images in Sketchboard are set to transparent. This message came up 6 times. I set the Sketchboard shapes to outline only, instead of outline and fill, but that produced exactly the same results. Most of the graphics are omitted from all the PDF pages, but even more seriously, page 6 is completely blank- perhaps because it has more sketchboard images on it? I chose to omit pages C1 and C6, but D6 has not exported- it is just a blank page, although the track show correctly on pages D1 to D5. Any suggestions ...

Full details of how to use the crop/combine function, and a video, are at: http://templot.com/companion/crop_combine.php To make 2 maps contiguous, they need to be scaled to a common size of course, matching your model scale. Which will be the case if you have used Templot's automated import from the NLS. Then set the front one to show transparent, and shift it over the other until the features align. It doesn't matter if there is an overlap if you are following up with crop/combine. Then for normal use switch the transparency off, because it adversely affects the zooming and panning response. Shapes are drawn on the screen in the order shown in the list. That means the front shape on the screen is the bottom shape in the list. Hi Andy, pad> pad current template options> pad current template colours> transition end marks colour... menu item. Finding a colour scheme to work clearly over a background scan is quite tricky. For a normal scan of a clean map you might find the "snow white" scheme is suitable. Alternatively on the default "sky blue" scheme changing to a transparent image may help (on the Background Shapes dialog). With a transparent image the "classic grey" scheme also works well. The problem with that scheme is that some parts of the mouse pointers do not display -- the "cross-hairs" mouse pointer is completely invisible. My preference recently is to do "negative image" on the the scan in a photo editor, reduce the contrast/brightness to just greys, and then use the "bright night" colour scheme. ... screenshot maps are free. The tiled maps are much easier to use, and can be extended to any size and not restricted to the size of your screen for making a screenshot. I'm hoping that when the NLS have completed their 25" coverage they will be making that map available as a tiled API too. But it will be expensive. The 6" maps are not too useful by themselves for track planning, but being GB-wide they do provide a very useful means of scaling non-NLS maps by overlaying transparent and aligning structures such as bridges, churches, etc., (which tend not to move around much). However, if the funds don't run to it I may decide to let that API go. ... shades option produces much neater templates, and doesn't use coloured ink. Or you could print from Templot in colour and set the monochrome option on the printer's own setup instead. It is in fact working as intended -- it is a complex issue. Templot is now an old program. The black& white printing shares many of the settings for old dot-matrix impact printers (having an ink ribbon), and for old-style liquid pen plotters. The reason the colour and grey-shades print appears to have transparent cess is that it has a hatched infill instead of solid colour. Not all printers support hatched infill, especially older ones. The reason black& white printing uses solid white infill, blanking out any previously drawn detail, is that there is a risk with any other setting on older printers that they will fill it with solid black ink, wasting ink and likely cockling the paper on ink-jet printers. As I say, it is complex. At least with direct printing Templot can find out from the printer what ...
