WHen I check this in 'printer set-up' the printer is already 'correctly' set up for A4 portrait. When I go back to printing the proofsheet, Templot still thinks its wrong, even though it is right in printer set-up. Of course if I select 'Try print it anyway' the result is wrong. The printer is still uncalibrated. What do I try next. You may want to create a custom paper size in Windows, which may (or may not) show up in the paper size list in your PDF driver. In Windows a paper size is called a "form". You can create named custom forms: From the taskbar go to Start> Control Panel> Printers and Faxes. Click the File> Server Properties menu item. Tick the Create a form box. ... also, I tried printing the drawing just to see what it looked like and although the quality was perfect, the printer didn't seem to print it all. Is it better to export to pdf for printing? What did you ask Templot to print? If you used the print now option there are three choices, print just the control template (the black and grey one) or print all the background templates (the blue ones) or print group (only available if a group is selected. These options will produce an uncalibrated printout whose accuracy is not guaranteed. For a more accurate printout use the Output option, which is far more flexible, but you must set up the printer at the bottom of this menu first. It does not need to be converted to a PDF unless you are going to have it commercially printed. Regards Tony. Using a standard paper size, it works fine, calibrated or uncalibrated, single sheets or banner, and 2. Using a custom paper size, it doesn't, calibrated or uncalibrated, single sheets or banner.? If so the problem is with your printer. Templot reads the page size information from the printer driver, but it has no knowledge of whether that is a standard size or a custom size. If that's not what you are saying, could you summarize again exactly under what circumstances it works ok, and under what circumstances it doesn't? I note that it is a photo ...

... about calibrating a virtual printer? Virtual printers appear in the Windows printers list like any other, so you can set the calibration details for them in Templot in exactly the same way as for other printers. To obtain the calibration data, create PDF files for the calibration test sheets and print them on your intended printer using Adobe Reader or Foxit Reader. Calibrated PDF files should be printed only on the printer for which you calibrated them. If you intend to use other printers or share the PDF files with friends please create them uncalibrated. Hi John, I'm having a think about that. There is a significant problem -- using the wrong calibration data is likely to be 10 times worse than using the printer uncalibrated. Even if Templot finds some saved calibration data, there is no way of knowing that it applies to the very same unchanged actual physical printer that you are about to use. You may have obtained a new printer, or had an old one repaired. Folks could go on unknowingly using out-of-date calibration data for years. The only way round this I can think of is the current one -- you saved the file, you know which printer you are using, Templot asks you what you want ...
