Martin, Volume of material is one of the cost variables used by Shapeways for pricing their acrylic FUD and FXD materials; their other 3D-printed materials are priced in different ways depending upon the manufacturing processes involved. This table was published by Shapeways exactly a year ago: 100_090841_160000000.png All of the Off The Rails comprise just one part; I could save model material by not adding sprues but that would then cost an additional $1 per part- expensive keys and studbolts! If the last line of the table looks confusing, just read it as "height is more expensive than width or length". Don't forget to add postage, VAT and currency conversion to the above figures.
