That does look a bit industrial without any flare on the checking face. Likewise the use of a normal spliced vee on the ends of the K-crossing check rails also does not provide any check flare. Similarly the ends of the K-crossing check rails are machined to fit together with a flare on the checking face, rather than spliced as a normal vee.
