... . The ballast edge usually extends to the edge of the formation, or it may be a bit narrower. Since the prototype varies so much, it is for the user to set the required dimensions. If you want the line to mark the ballast shoulder top, you must set the width accordingly. This dimension can be specific to each template. regards, Martin. posted: 7 Nov 2012 21:32 from: Martin Wynne p.s. John. Here's a sketch cross-section showing the trackbed width and cess: 2_071626_150000000.png The underlying formation is prepared with a top slope of 1:20 for drainage into the cess, to typically 15ft trackbed width. ... topic: 2205 TS trackbed edges posted: 25 Apr 2013 12:45 from: Martin Wynne I have modified the trackbed edges function to follow the diverging turnout-side (TS) curve on a turnout. This will make the cutting lines more useful for long turnouts. The change applies to the baseboard cutting line and the ballast+ cess options. open-top baseboard edges: 2_250658_230000003.png 2_071626_150000000.png ballast edge+ cess: 2_250658_220000002.png These edges always follow the full length of a template, so there will still be some conflicts at template boundaries. They are intended as full-size cutting templates rather than a finished drawing. You are expected to scribble on them where necessary. In the next program update. regards, Martin. ... we will cut out the trackbed from plywood when we've got it sorted. Is tee away to show an outline of the extent of the 'live railway' ie a foot either size of the sleeper ends, so that we cut the ply right Hi Mike, You asked too many questions to answer all in one go. Here's a bit more. For this you use the trackbed edges function. You can choose to have a solid cutting line, or 2 lines showing the ballast shoulder and cess: 2_221625_280000000.png printed template: 2_060536_020000000.png 2_071626_150000000.png On the prototype the underlying formation is prepared with a top slope of typically 1:20 for drainage into the cess, to typically 15ft trackbed width for a single track. The ballast is then spread on top of that. ballast edge+ cess: 2_250658_220000002.png The templates are intended as full-size cutting templates rather than a finished drawing. You are expected to scribble on them where necessary. You can also show the trackbed edges in diagram-mode output: 2_101848_130000000.png This option will apply in diagram mode for all outputs ...
