There has to be a limit somewhere. When I introduced the adjustable exits I allowed the TS exit to break this rule (but not the MS exit, which can only be shortened). Strictly speaking the check rails are not part of the exit, they are part of the V-crossing, so must still be inside the overall length. But maybe that's all wrong, and it needs a re-think ...
