I doubt very much that PNG would be required just to reduce storage space (!) but is it going to improve anything to remove it? Hi Martin, Graeme, As it happens I have been working on the Templot2 file viewer today. I have added functions to export files in the new MECBOX format for transfer to OT/MEC: 2_281902_510000000.png But only for the in-memory bitmaps option. The deprecated PNG option is still working but doesn't include these export functions. These functions will allow users to make backups in the new format from Templot2 for OT/MEC for large collections of old .box files. These functions are relevant only for Templot2, so I don't think Graeme will need to make any similar changes to the file viewer in OT/MEC. cheers, Martin. posted: 29 Oct 2019 01:37 from: Graeme Martin Dobbins wrote:. ...

... you can save it in OTBOX format for future working. Attached below is a scruff release 224z of Templot2, with a few new features. The screenshots should be self-explanatory: 2_301753_450000001.png 2_301753_440000000.png The above option is on by default and you probably want to leave it on, so that any work you do in Templot2 will be automatically backed up for possible future use in OT/MEC. If you have a large quantity of BOX files to export, you can export a folderful at a time using the file viewer: 2_281902_510000000.png I will post a scruff version of TemplotMEC shortly which can import/export the MECBOX files. But first I want to ask for some help. It has proved extremely difficult to test this function, to be sure all possible template settings are properly transferred -- there are over 450 of them for each template, and more if any timbers are shoved. Could you please therefore try exporting and re-importing some MECBOX files? And report any discrepancies you find. Ideally with a mixture of all sorts of exotic custom ...

... or TemplotMEC. But it does make saving noticeably slower, so for large track plans you may want to turn it off and export a MECBOX file manually occasionally. You can also export MECBOX files from the file viewer. This is useful if you have a large number of BOX files to export -- you can if you wish export an entire folder-full in one go (there will be time to make a coffee while waiting). The MECBOX files are exported into the same folder as the source BOX file: 2_281902_510000000.png It is likely that the MECBOX functions will need refining in the light of experience -- please report any issues here on Templot Club. I haven't found any errors yet, but I feel sure there must be a few waiting to be discovered. The open-source versions of Templot can be found at: http://sourceforge.net/projects/opentemplot/ N.B. They are still in development and don't yet provide the same full functionality as Templot2. 2. saved program preferences Your saved program preferences now include your ...
