... Rob. The 3D printing stuff is going over my head too. I'm still writing DXF code the same way I did in the 1980s. That's why I started this separate topic to cover the track design aspects. Here is something that will be possible. If you omit a timber when shoving, its chairs go too, as you can see. However, if instead you set its length to zero, making it invisible, its chairs remain unsupported on the rails. Adjacent long timbers can then be extended under them: 2_301256_010000000.png With the timbers invisible, shoving them along will be a way to slide the chairs along the rails to any desired position. 2_301320_510000000.png UPDATE: We now have the keys, and outer jaws on the S1 chairs. Gold-plated: 2_061704_070000000.png Notice the random key positions (and screw heads). There should be a corner radius around the top of the jaw, but I think I'm going to draw a line at this. I've used as much of the REA drawing as seems reasonable. I'm hoping that the 3D ...

Hi Phil, There isn't really such a thing as "the chair positions". It's a complex subject, and varies with the different prototypes and periods. I do have an ongoing, but currently stalled, project to show REA bullhead chairing on the 2D templates (and hopefully also GWR): 2_161458_330000001.png 2_301200_590000000.png 2_301256_010000000.png It's a long way from being ready, and got more complex after I obtained a 3D printer -- I'm hoping to get Templot to export the files needed for direct 3D printing of track. 2_061704_070000000.png Unfortunately I don't get much time to work on it, my computer time being mostly taken up in supporting the current Templot functions for users. For example I recently spent several days on a re-write of the make diamond-crossing at intersection function. So don't hold your breath for chairing in the DXF any time ...
