... in my current plan for Wolverhampton Low Level there is a turnout on the down road that splits tracks going into the platforms with the other going to the goods avoiding lines at the rear of the station. I would think that the main route as it were would probably be in the direction of the goods lines as trains going through the platform roads would likely be slowing down more in preparation for stopping? I've attached a crude drawing to help with my explanation, hopefully it will make sense! If however both roads are taking similar traffic I would think that the passenger rated line would take precedence over the goods only line.
