... : 2_080108_340000000.png Given such data it would be relatively easy to add it to the Templot DXF export, including the chair rotation to match the rail and the centreline intersections which you are saying is time-consuming. Templot could do it all automatically, and export a DXF with all the chairs on. I could have a go at compiling such data from the prototype chair drawings, but it seems that you must have already done it? Templot can already export 3D in DXF, and has been doing it for many years: beam_ends_skp.jpg I know some software is needed which can slice that into the horizontal layers necessary for 3D printing, but I assume you have that already? A couple of years ago I started work on a function in Templot to determine the chair types and positions for any turnout: 2_160542_230000000.png which could now be progressed. I feel sure we could make progress if we could find a common language in which to exchange data. But STL ain't it. cheers, Martin. posted: 8 Jul 2018 12:33 from: Stephen Freeman ...

It opened in Sketchup just fine, but I noticed you had imported only a 2D track file from Templot. So I replaced that with a 3D version just to see how it looked (from your previous uploaded .box file): beam_ends_skp1.jpg beam_ends_skp.jpg I then thought I would prepare a bit of video. I recorded about 3 minutes worth, but then got a shock -- over 300 MB! I'm not too sure why it's so much bigger than the Templot videos, but I think the textured surfaces are the problem. That's why the above images are in .jpg fromat instead of the usual .png for screenshots. Also Sketchup produces a blank screen in the Camtasia recorder with graphics hardware acceleration turned off (the usual setting). Recording with acceleration on produces a jerky ...

... faces! Any ideas how to solve that?! posted: 25 Sep 2012 21:12 from: Martin Wynne James wrote: To reduce the Templot plan to be accurate for N gauge in Sketchup I have to reduce it to 0.33% of the original!! Hi James, Something odd there. What scale are you using in Sketchup? Have you mixed up mm and inch units in the DXF? There is some discussion about using Sketchup with Templot DXF here: topic 327- message 1836 Templot DXF in Sketchup: beam_ends_skp.jpg Templot DXF in TurboCad: hopton_clee_tc8.jpg regards, Martin. posted: 25 Sep 2012 21:44 from: James Thanks for reply Martin- I wasn't aware there was a scale function in sketchup? I've just created my baseboards to size under woodworking template. ie my 1200mmx1000mm baseboard is exactly that. When Templot it imported the distance between tracks is 2488mm!! Like I said before, the scaling from within Templot is so dramatic that I lose clarity when imported. Bit stuck! posted: 25 Sep 2012 22:13 ...
