I have just uploaded an experimental version of the Templot Companion web site. This is intended to be "responsive" in the jargon, i.e. it conforms to and displays conveniently on different devices -- tablets, mobiles, smartphones, watches, internet-enabled toasters, etc. This should make it easier to access on such devices. If you have one such, you may like to try it and report the results. Thanks. (The plain blue appearance is just for testing at this stage.) Here's the main link: http://templot.com/companion_responsive/ These links are typical pages with images, etc: http://templot.com/companion_responsive/index.html?using_the_menus.htm http://templot.com/companion_responsive/index.html?catch_points.htm http://templot.com/companion_responsive/index.html?wrap_picture_shape_to_curve.htm It also works on an ordinary computer of course. But then so does the normal version at: http://templot.com/companion/ Which do you prefer? p.s. there is no change to content, this is just testing the format. regards, Martin. |

Hi Martin It seems to work fine on Windows Phone 8.1. It's nice to see you doing this because some much bigger outfits don't bother, with the result that their pages are just unusable without a magnifying glass! Cheers |

Martin, I've just tried it on a Google Nexus Android Tablet running Google Chrome as the Web Browser. All of the main screens that I tried displayed without any problems... BUT: when I tried to search, whilst it displayed search results without any problems and displayed the search that I had typed, I couldn't see what I was typing in the initial search bar. (This problem doesn't replicate on a Mac using a Mozilla Browser or on a windows PC using Google Chrome.) Neil |

No credit to me -- I'm just helping with the beta testing for our friends at EC Software. In fact Tim has a much more fully-fledged HTML5-based system under development, which is lightning fast to load pages: 2_190832_170000000.png Not yet working enough to post a link. Of course none of this yet contains any significant content, it is still mostly empty pages. I have been waiting for these developments to become available before doing much more actual work on the Companion. regards, Martin. |

I will pass that on to Alex at EC Software. Do you mean it was too small to see, or completely blank? regards, Martin. |

It was hidden behind the main content: I could only just see that I was typing something because there was 'movement' but I had no idea what was being typed. It wasn't in the search box but some form of bar hidden at the top of the screen (like text bars that appear in other applications - this could have been a search bar instead of the search box that was shown in the Mozilla and Chrome Browsers on the Mac and PC). What's actually responsive I'm using the links on an iphone 5. I still have to manually scroll all over the place to read the page ? |

madscientist wrote: What's actually responsiveThat's why I posted the links. I don't have any of these mobile devices (apart from a Windows tablet which actually has a higher res screen than any of my other systems). So I'm relying on you to tell me what you see. Does this apply only to pages with large images, or also on pages containing only text? See for example: http://templot.com/companion_responsive/index.html?gs_baffled.htm regards, Martin. |

Martin That link seems " responsive " The other links have larger graphics which seem to require scrolling to see the text |
