Help, having used Templot for a few years, I'm now trying to import some old Frank Dyer track plans to see how they pan out. I'm running Templot on my Apple Macbook pro using Wine and Templot seems to run well in that but, trying to import a background shape doesn't seem to work. I have the plan in both JPEG and PDF format which both appear on the C drive on Wine. I select the file, click on it, click copy, but when I go back to the "import shape dialogue it won't drop the shape onto the track plan. What am I missing? Track plan attached, it's a bit faded but should be useable! |

There isn't a mechanism to copy and paste a file into the background picture shapes. You can copy and paste an image*, or you can drag and drop a file. Alternatively you can navigate to the file in the usual Windows file open dialog. In Wine this is probably the most reliable method. *To copy and paste an image, you must first open it in an image editor, and then copy it. cheers, Martin. |

Hi Roy, I had a go with your image as Martin suggested. BGS file attached for you to look at. I made an assumption on the overall size but you can scale it down ( or up ) if you wish. Rob |

Hi Roy, I have done it for you. Image contrast improved, rotated square, cropped down, and 4ftx3ft baseboards scaled to size. Here is the BGS file. SK81 file to follow. Save both files to the same location. Then open the BGS file in Templot. cheers, Martin. |

Rotation needed is 0.75 degrees. It is 10 times easier to scale if you lock the scaling to the notch. cheers, Martin. |

No, I'm totally lost. I've downloaded the 2 files to the downloads folder, then dragged them to the Templot icon at the side of the screen. The system says wine cannot open this type of file. I can't seem to find them anywhere in Templot either. | ||

Hi Roy, I find the easiest way to find files in Wine is to put them on an external drive such as a USB memory stick. Put both the BGS and SK81 files on there. Then in Templot, click files > (open) reload shapes from file... menu item: 2_191817_190000000.png Then navigate to the USB stick and select the BGS file. cheers, Martin. |

It is impossible to get definitive information. I have been told several times that the drag and drop in Templot doesn't work on a Mac+Wine. cheers, Martin. |
