Hi Martin, Sorry if this has been reported before but there is a misalignment across PDF pages. The attached shows a crossover where the TS tracks don't align but the MS ones do??? The box file is fine. The PDF is for the control template. |

Hi Terry You have not taken the trim margins into account. If you were to print this out and then trim each page to the purple trim margins, you would find everything in alignment. If you wish printed copies of your plan it is better to calibrate your printer and then use the printed output option. Regards. Bill Campbell. |

They will then fit together accurately to create a track construction template. Printing a trim margin on each page avoids any printer or paper variations. If you wanted to create a PDF file without page breaks, you need to set a suitable large page size: 2_031333_590000000.png See also this recent topic: topic 3482 cheers, Martin. |

Trim Margin Problems....... At a stage to print final design in pdf form on A3 paper for track building so: I've set output to 'Colour, Print Single Sheets, 100%, export a file' On Export a file screen I've selected 'export a document, trim margins 400 (long side) 277 (short side) and ticked trim between margins' Press the create screen and the file is created. In Adobe I can see PDF with the Trim Margins (although not inset by 20mm) When printing I've selected Page Sizing as Custom Scale 100% However the Print Screen is showing Document Size as 12 x 16.9 inches versus a Paper Size of 11.69 x 16.54 inches - implying document larger than paper size. When printed therefore there's no Trim Margins on all 4 sides. I've printed full size pdf's many times however this time I'm clearly missing something but not sure what! Any thoughts before I launch the laptop.... Cheers Steve ps I have changed the page origin for this print however I have changed 'Trackpad' to reflect 'Page Outlines for Printer' ....... this may be the root of the problem(?) |

Hi Steve, There are two different margins to consider: 1. the red trim lines on the Templot pages. They are inside the document size created by Templot. I have just created a PDF with 400x277mm between the trim margins. The resulting PDF document size is 410.5mm x 286.0mm (16.16" x 11.26"). It seems your printer's printable area is smaller than this. 2. the printer's own margins between the printable area and the edge of the paper. Those are shown in the printer user guide. 2_071439_270000000.png It seems your printer is showing the "Document Size" as adding its required printer margins to the PDF document size. You need to start with a smaller size than 400x277mm between the red trim margins, so that the final document size created by Templot fits on the printer's printable area. Alternatively you can untick the box so that the 400x277mm is the actual document size created by Templot, and the red trim margins will be inside it. p.s. there are dozens of PDF reader/printer programs and in my experience Adobe is the worst. I use PDF-XChange, which is great. cheers, Martin. |

Martin, Thanks for your help on this. I've had a quick look at the printer settings and discovered that at A3 in the Adobe Print / Page Set Up there is a default 25mm margin on each side of the paper which I cannot seem to amend. Using 25mm in the Trim Settings (so LS 370, SS 247) and printing to a pdf it would appear that there is now a sensible overlap between individual pages. The only downside is that there are now 20% more pages; a small price to pay. I'll also explore the 'unticked box' option with various Trim Settings until a desired output is achieved. I'm at a loss as to why this happened as using the same printer setup with 420mm and 297mm in the Trim Settings to create a 100% pdf has worked fine. Cheers Steve |
