I know the answer to this question is a bit like how long is a bit of string, but here is my quandary. I am about to build a trailing crossover for myself to test some loco chassis I am building, which in turn will form part of my new layout in the future, What would be an average adjacent track centre for a branch line platform runaround line given there would be water stands to refill coach water tanks, I am going to build a BLT bases on Bodmin General in a preserved era. Does not need to be an exact copy of anything and the runaround may have a platform itself either for additional trains or storage before the turnout Thanks in advance |

I would agree about the bit of string and as it would be a GW bit of string, was the branch a broad gauge one? As this would open up the gap a bit, a platform may add a constraint. As you have mentioned having water stands, I would start at a 10 foot way and work up. | ||
