Hi guys Does anyone know the crossing angle of the '3ft radius' SMP plastic based point kits, looking to match up some new pointwork on a layout where these have been used but I don't have access to measure them at the moment? Even better if someone has created a box file for one! Regards Mike |

Hi Mike, Here's a scan. Looks like it's close to 11 degrees. Andy 2983_021932_430000000.jpg |

Hi Andy, Thanks for that. Bearing in mind this design is about 40 years old, the V-crossing area is quite acceptable and almost exactly 1:5. About the switch area however, the least said the better. The deflection angle is ludicrously sharp. The best match I can get to the lead length and footprint is to use one of Templot's short model switches (1:24), with a regular 1:5 V-crossing, and a slight tweak to the crossing entry straight. I noticed that you have curved this turnout a fraction, so I did the same to get a match: 2_022134_070000000.png Mike, if you want Andy's original full-size scan, it is included in the BGS3 file below, or on this link: gallery/2983/original/2983_021932_430000000.jpg BGS3 background shapes file attached, BOX file to follow. cheers, Martin. |

Here's the BOX file. Bear in mind that this turnout has been curved a fraction. You would need to straighten it before using it for planning purposes. cheers, Martin. |

Hi Andy and Martin Big thanks for this! Martin you've made feel old as I remember saving up and buying a couple of these when they first came out! Regards Mike |
