Help! I am a new Templot User. I am trying to adjust the spacing of timbering in a B7 turnout, to match C&L templates. I have worked out how to adjust the spacing from the crossing nose to the switch heel, but not from the switch heel to the toe. How do I adjust the timber spacing for the whole turnout, and then save those settings? Thanks Giles B |

There is a Templot file which you can download containing templates already matched to C&L 00 gauge templates: http://www.templot.com/samples/cl_00_gauge_equiv.box (In Firefox right-click on the above link and click "Save Link As..." ) Here are the notes about it: '00 Gauge templates in 00-BF standard matching C&L 00 Gauge templates for A5, B6, B7, B8 turnouts. Intended to be used when you prefer the closer than prototype timber spacings for 00 gauge, or you want to produce curved versions of C&L templates, or you have existing trackwork which has been built on C&L templates and want to include it in your track design. To preserve the shoved timber spacings do not mint from these templates (e.g. via the "quick set..." function).' Here is the screenshot: cl_00_equiv_screen.png Here is the B7 template printed out: cl_00_equiv_print.png These custom templates are for the 00-BF standard (16.5mm gauge). If you change them to 00-SF (16.2mm gauge) the lead lengths will shorten slightly and the templates will no longer exactly match the length of the original C&L templates. To change them to 00-SF without upsetting the other C&L customized settings, do this: 1. Click the template > gauge and scale > modify current settings > modify track gauge... menu item and change the track gauge to 16.2mm. 2. Click the template > gauge and scale > modify current settings > modify flangeway gap... menu item and change the flangeway gap to 1.0mm and the flangeway end gap to 1.5mm. If you are modelling to 00-SF you may prefer to discard the C&L templates and use the Templot default templates instead. For more information about 00-SF, see http://00-sf.org.uk . To answer your specific questions, by default in Templot the timber spacings in the switch are set from the REA prototype data. To change them you really need to create a different custom switch (already done for you in the above file). Alternatively you could use the shove timber functions on each turnout (real > shove timbers menu item.) To save anything in Templot you must store a template containing it. Click the control > store & background menu item, and then the control > save all templates... menu item. regards, Martin. |
