Hi Folks, I am trying to set up some templates for HOe in the custom settings for scale and gauge. Anyone know of the standards or is it best to use the N gauge dimensions and adjust the timbers? Thanks. Peter |

Hi Peter, > I am trying to set up some templates for HOe in the custom settings > for scale and gauge. I think most commercial models use the N gauge standards, but you could try asking the 009 Society at: http://www.009society.com Some 4mm narrow-gauge modellers are using finer P4-like standards -- cue Paul Boyd for chapter and verse. See the narrow-gauge models on his web site at: http://www.pbhome.myzen.co.uk regards, Martin. |

Hi Martin, I have checked out Paul's site and looked at the finescale narrow gauge track standards, which appears to use a 0.5mm flangeway. I have also got some details of HOn30 which uses 6' x 7" x 5" scale timbers. But I'm not sure of the track centres. I think Peco OO9 track is 18mm sleepers on 10mm spacing but am not sure if this is the same for HOe. I may have to get someone to measure a piece of Tillig track. Regards, Peter |

Peter Ayre wrote: Hi Martin, The standards I'm using for my 4mm scale narrow gauge are actually based on the 2mm Scale Association track and wheel standards, with the gauge reduced to 7.83mm (1ft 11.5in). The oft-quoted "P4 minus 11mm" is actually far too coarse. The flangeway is indeed 0.5mm, and normal N-gauge wheels won't go through. I chose these standards after measuring up some 1960s (I think) track at Dduallt a few years ago and found that 2mm scale standards and 3mm scale chairs were just about spot on for 4mm scale 2ft narrow gauge! |
