Some pictures posted on RMweb this morning showing what the Manchester Model Railway Society have been doing with Templot. See: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=732138#p732138 When I see pictures like this I'm always reminded of the very first time I got a usable template off the printer when I was developing Templot. I never for a minute dreamed what other folks would go on and do with it. Well done to all involved on Slattocks Junction. file.php?id=91325 Martin. |

It looks quite interesting Martin. Any chance you could persuade them to publish the track plan for all to see please? Regards Brian Lewis Martin Wynne wrote: Some pictures posted on RMweb this morning showing what the Manchester Model Railway Society have been doing with Templot. |

Apologies Martin, I did not make myself clear. I have been looking with interest, at the various plans of this in the Show pages, but it does seem they have moved on somewhat from the latest plan shown. Hi Brian, I will publish an updated plan when it's ready - they've got me making more changes to the fiddle yard! At least its only pixels and not having to rub it out. The plan does have some ommisions in that the single slip and diamond are not properly drawn in Templot - Dick Petter is drawing these by hand as they are irregular. Martin had drawn the diamond in his special version but Dick slightly altered the junction after that! I also need to clear out all of the unused templates from the plan, seem to have acquired rather a lot along the way. Andy |

I don't think we'd have got anywhere near as good a design doing it by hand and I'd probably have killed a few people along the way with the various changes we've made. A simple change can affect an awful lot of track, but Templot makes it a lot easier to make those changes and therefore get it right. Andy |

Hi Martin That must make you feel proud of what you've put out into the big, wide world! Templot is a brilliant piece of software - it's a shame that not everyone can get on with it but that thread shows the doubters what can be done with it. Cheers PS - in case anyone noticed that I've been quiet lately, loss of a job and a sudden house move away from Brian's domain to take up a new job takes up a lot of time! |

Thanks Andy, I look forward to seeing it when ready. I think looking at the work of others is a far as I will get to producing another big layout. The idea was to sell my 7mm layout and build in its place, 'Twyford' - four track main line with a branch to Henley. I could not do this in 7mm in the space I have - 33ft x 19 ft, so I determined I would go back to P4 and have in fact exactly 20 P4 locos ready for action.... But realism has hit me hard. I fear I will never be able to finish it, so I will content myself by looking at the work of others. Regards Brian Lewis. Andy G wrote: Hi Brian, |
