Hello all, For me, one of the best things about this forum is the sharing of .box files - in addition to the good debate which often ensues, it is often a great way of learning by seeing how others do things. But I wonder if a could make a proposal? Why not, when posting a .box, include an image of the layout - perhaps in the form of a "dump" of a Templot screen. This would be very helpful in seeing if the layout is one which is of particular / general / no interest. I mention this as I have just had a minor disaster - having unconsciously adopted a *Templot way of working* - ie, resoring my last closing poition at startup then just quitting, thus exploiting the "automatic restore function". Unfortunately, I thus allowed the current project to drift away from the last saved version. No Problem of course, until I opened Templot by double clicking on a downloaded .box, then loading that at startup, rather than my previous closing position. Thus, all my last session's developments were 'lost'. Not that I am saying that I don't like this way of working - there are other *disasters* which it has protected me from - just that I allowed myself to develop a very bad habit in the course of using it. All the more frustrating then, when I discovered that the downloaded project was not one of interest after all... Best Regards, Howard |

The last two sessions are always available. Go to the storage box and click the files > restore previous or files > restore prior-previous menu items. They are also available in the main > recent files > list. But don't wait too long. It's always safer to save a named file when quitting. regards, Martin. |

...ah - now that IS useful to know! It won't help for the previous cuck-op but it will see use in future! It's strange how such menu items remain unseen until it is pointed out that they exist! Many thanks, Howard. |

JFS wrote: It's strange how such menu items remain unseen until it is pointed out that they exist!Hi Howard, See: http://www.templot.com/martweb/gs_box_notes.htm Written years ago for 074b but still mostly applicable. From that page: "The files > restore previous menu item restores the box contents and background drawing to the condition they were in when you quit the previous Templot session. You can use this it any time and as often as you wish, independently of any saving or reloading you may have done since. This function works correctly even if the previous session terminated abnormally as a result of a system malfunction. Be aware that this function re-instates the box contents as they were when you quit the previous session, not as they were when you last saved them to a data file." regards, Martin. |
