TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

Andrew Jukes / Len Newman

Quick reply >
I forgot to say 2 weeks ago when in my local model shop I was told Len Newman had also passed away a few weeks earlier. I know Len had been in ill health for many years, but still so sad and a great loss for someone who was instrumental in the creation of two track building component companies we are blessed with today

3 actually, the Permaway chairs etc were also done by Len - there is a brief resume on Karlgarins site

Len also developed a 4mm scale version of Bayko building bricks, using plasticard rods. I believe it is now regarded as a collectors item.

Bayko, for those who don't remember: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayko

I remember seeing the promotional leaflet at about the same time as the track system and trees. I don't think it ever caught on though.

I bought a load of it and never used it - sold it on ebay for a song when I moved to 7mm. Called Formcraft from memory. There was a feature in an early MRJ as I recall showing the problems of keeping brick courses level. Loved Bayko though. The 1950s Lego equivalent.
